General Cycling Discussion - I don't need prayers exactly but cross your fingers for me

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just in time to top off the peak of my cycling season, I picked up a little more speed than I should have onto the big solid steel High Level Bridge here in Edmonton yesterday. I sideswiped some steel. There is no real barrier between the walking/cycling path and the bridge itself. Anyway, I hit it going about 30k and smashed my arm.
Cross your fingers because my doctor thinks the muscle might be torn. I'm on my way to the hospital to get the x-ray tonight.
I rolled around on the pavement for a bit. No pedestrians stopped or anything. I fellow Critical Mass rider finally stopped and checked on me. I finally pulled myself together and carried my sore lil' *** into a clinic.
I really can't afford to tear the muscle cause I have to move in a month. Funny how things happen that way.
Don't worry. Contrary to my girlfriends wishes, I'm not retiring for the season. There's a long winter of cycling ahead of me.

Ouch! Do what the doc says and take care of yourself. Hope it's ok.
Dang, I hope injuries don't become a trend around here.

Torn muscle? Aaieee!
Hang in there, madcat!
No ped's stopped? I would have! I am so sorry! Hang in there and heal. I am all for you, on your side 100%!
(And I'll pray for you, no charge. ;))
Here's looking forward to a fast healing!!!

It's funny actually, the last serious crash I had (December '97, caused by a broken spoke of all things), no peds stopped then either. Mind you, they might regret that later on. To quote from Peter Garrett:
"Karma is a Boomerang."

Outch!! that sounds painful.
I am familiar with that bridge as I use to live in Dredmonton. I myself never had the courage to ride across that metalic monster as I have a bit of a fear of hights, if I needed to go downtown I usually took my bike on the LRT from the university station.
Get well soon
Cheers:beer:

Keep in touch, Kitty, hope everything goes OK!
I know what you mean, I'm moving at the end of the month too. :D
I'm getting better. It's still tender but after four hours in emerg. waiting for a simple x-ray, I learned that it's not broken. YAY. It's bruised pretty ugly though but I took the bandages off to show all my friends. The bruises have slowly turned from black to purple. I can't really lift my arm in certain ways but it's not so painful anymore. The worst in when I reflex to do things such as grab the phone at work. OUCH. I've been working in a dispatch centre up til tonight. So I'd answer the phone with a painful squeek.
I have a new job now though:) My last day at my old job was today. It's been a hectic week. Hence my late reply.

I know how you feel! When doing normal things, I periodically let out a vocal, "Ahch!" as pain revisits itself in my sore members...
