Hello, I'm new to the sport of triathlon. I've only completed one as of today, but I enjoy it and am hooked. I borrowed a bike to compete and am looking to purchase a new bike this fall or next spring. I don't know much about bikes at this point, so I'm looking for any advice on selection. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 200 pounds. My budget is somewhere between $2,000-$2,500 since I want a bike that I can use for quite some time, and I don't mind spending money up front in order to avoid needing to upgrade as my skill and fitness level increases. I don't necessarily want a triathlon specific bike. I think a road bike that can double as a tri bike would be more to my liking. I've done a little research on Scott, Kestrel, and Specialized, but would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks,
crvandy

Have you looked at the Cervelo Soloist Team? I think you can get that with Ultegra in your price range. It's a cool option because it can be used as a roadie or a tri bike.

The only suggestion I can offer is to make sure the fit is perfect. Try as many bikes as you have to and find the one that is most comfortable for you. Take your time in this selection and find somebody who knows what they are doing when it comes to bike fit.

+1 Pro race winning frame with the option of going to a very aggressive tri set-up.
