Road Cycling - Helmet, what do you have?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. 2 briko twinners, one red, one white. Only wear one at a time though just in case there are any of you out there that would try and catch me on that one:D

Yeah Delerious they do look kind of weird, but my Mom and I run both of them since we tandem together, but the main reason we got them was because of the fit and the ventilation they have, mostely the fit, it's the best helmet I've every worn, and I just HATE helmets, but this is the first one that I don't mind a bit wearing because of the fit, so I got rid of all the other ones, normally I only had one at any givin time, but now that's different, and go with these two briko's...I hope they don't stop making them anytime soon, cause they are sooo great!!..

Giro Ventoux, it was hard to find a helmet for me, cuz i have a ridiculously large and rounded head, most helmets(at the time) were designed for narrower heads.
Giro Pneumo. Stupidly expensive but it fits me like a glove, awesome air flow and I got it for 33% off :D

Right now I have a Giro Eclipse with a broken Roc-Loc system. A Pnuemo is on the way to me now. Got a heck of a discount :)
Oh, anyone considering buying a Pneumo might want to wait a bit...there is a new Giro model coming out that is supposed to be lighter and more ventilated...although it'll probably leave your wallet lighter and more ventilated as well.

Yeah I heard about that new prototype that Lance and CO. are test, think it's called the Atom, I wonder what it'll be like, and what price point they'll start it at, I'm sure some crazy point, wouldn't be surprized if it's at or neat 200, crazy!!

I have a 2002 Giro E2 that replaced my 2000 Giro E2. My new E2 is the limited edition "blue flame" that comes with the helmet pod. I crashed hard in late Oct. of 2002 and well.. let's just say that's a bad time to search for new helmets since the new models haven't hit the shelves yet and the older stock have been picked clean. My LBS gave me a good deal on the limited edition E2 that wasn't selling for the price they had it marked at. I really wanted a carbon coloured 2003 E2 but couldn't wait. I tried riding with my wife's helmet for a week before I gave in and bought the closeout E2. Riding around with someone else's helmet is just one step away from borrowing underwear... it just feels weird and if you think too hard about it you gross yourself out.

Lance Pnuemo!
Some Bell helmet that cost me about $50. Has a visor that I took off to ride my road bike because of the sightline. Seems to work just fine--hopefully I'll never need the protection.

I use a Giro Eclipse (white). They fit exceptionally well. Must be a Giro thing?

Giro Transit. It works for me.
I have a white Ghisallo that I got on closeout back in the winter; just like Toothpick ( am I right?). I already crashed and trashed that one; and found about Bell's helmet replacement policy. That earned them a steady customer, thank you Bell.

I've always used Bell helmets. I have one which I use riding my 1965 Triumph Daytona motorcycle. I guess the good reputation Bell has from motorsport convinced me when I first started wearing a cycle helmet- and I'm a creature of habit.
Don't know what name this lid has........ but it's lighter than the last one and silver:)

Giro E2. Visors rule.
Seems like everyone's got round heads. :p
I got an oval one, so Giros don't fit me. They tend to be a little flat in the front and wide on the sides.
I have a Specialized Enduro Comp (white) and I got a Specialized Allez (red/white) for my gf. They fit very well.
I'm planning on getting the Louis Garneu Aki for my next helmet, if I ever crash this one.

I've owned a lot of helmets, then my Serfas rep had me try this one on.

the Serfas Monaco. In molded, easy set up, removable visor (or none at all if you choose), fits. Around 60 bucks.
Question of the evening: What's the difference between a 40 dollar helmet and a 120 dollar helmet (scroll)?
80 bucks!!

Regarding the Helmet, Bell Arc. $26.00. Works.
What is it with the no-visors on roadies? Is it a fashion statement, or is it a functionality issue?

Wind speed can cause havoc with visors.

Ah... old school. I had the same helmet but in yellow. I retired it long ago... if your neck doesn't fracture from the friction between foam and road you better hope the lycra holds all the bits together for the second impact.

I don't use it though.. Only about 1 or 2 times since.. It's just for show now.:D It has no scratches, no damage whatsoever.. only old..
I know its unsafe to use it..
I like its classic look.. reminds me of the time I started biking...

It reminds me of my old Bell skid-lid from ca. 1986 with the lycra cover that kept on getting snagged on tree branches when I went mountain biking.

Some people consider it a fashion statement but I remove the visor because when I'm tucked in, it blocks a great part of my vision.

Bell Phi - heavily discounted + coupon. Always had a helmet from a big box store - this one is much airier and the fit is far superior to the strap and pad 'system' on the big box items.

I bought a catlike helmet initially, but as I check over the internet, there was a recall in the US for the catlike helmets to be changed to Kompact 2 as the original compacts did not meet US standards.
So I got changed to a Met instead. Cheers
