Commuting - Mapping riding routes and their characteristics

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm trying to map my routes and loops on Google Earth. I can 'pin' all the intersections and make a 'path', but I can't seem to get the 'path' to spit out it's point by point distance and elevation. Anyone know how to do that?

Are there other tools for doing this that would be simpler or better to use? If so, I'd like to learn about them.

I used to use www.routeslip.com (for logging rides, too) and occasionally bikely.com - but I've not been logging/mapping much of late.

+1 to this one. I use it to map my rides, I use it to track all my cycling activities through the online journal, and soon I will be using it to create maps for my Edge 305 GPS.
