Great Lakes - Oakland County Riders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey everyone!
I just found this forum and so far I love it. Is anyone from the Oakland County area? I bike by myself, maybe I could find a biking partner. I just bought a Hybrid bike and I want to partake in some fun races eventually. I've been riding around my subdivision since it's huge and I'm going to start biking to the gym I belong too. I just bought a lock and a helmet and a bike mirror so I'm ready to bike to the gym and on the main roads.
Happy Biking! :-)

Oh yeah, Oakland County Michigan. I forgot to put Michigan and I'm not sure if other states have Oakland County too. :-)

Hey kelmurfee,
Welcome aboard—I live on Oakland County (Royal Oak) as well - some other folks on here do to. It seems there's a fairly active cycling community out here on the west side.
Enjoy the ride.

I'm in White Lake/Commerce/Waterford area. Where's Beverly Hills in Michigan? I definitely wouldn't be able to keep up with your riding group. My longest ride as been 13 miles average 13mph. I'm on a hybrid bike and I just started regularly biking like a week ago. I would love to come out eventually when I get up to 16mph for 55 miles :-)
Thanks

Welcome to cycling Michigan style,
Maybe you want to check out Slow Spokes bike club. Clinton River Riders too has some rides in and around the metro area. You can find many bike clubs in MI thru lmb.org . There are some rides coming up - Assenmacher (Aug), Peach of a Ride(Sept), and Blue Water Ramble (early Oct). They have different length options and your own pace. You will find many riders with similar ability and goals. Keep riding often.

Ahh very well then kelmurfee, beverly hills is basically south and east from your area...It's north of birmingham, west of royal oak, east of the bloomfield area and north of southfield...Get a good map from one of the metro parks and I bet you could find it..
Keep up the riding and maybe you'll be able to join us sometime..
Take care,
Benjamin

Hi, welcome! Another place with a few clubs and lots of riders is Ann Arbor, with the Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society, the Veloclub, and loads of folks going out to ride the local roads Saturdays and Sundays. Another club to check out, starting with lmb.org, is the Downriver club. They have a BIG program.
