Title says it all.
I want hotdogs but I don't know if the buns are good. I don't see mold on them so does that mean they're fine? They're still soft, not hard or stale.

If it aint blue, or green and hairy (er, fury) I will usually eat it.

The mold test is usually my yes/no decision maker.

Alright, guess they're good then. Even though they have been in the cupboard for a while.

you're eating the finest lips and assh0les money can buy, and you're concerned about the quality of the buns?

Hey, it's the finest lips and a-holes...so the bun has to be of equivalent quality man! :p

Those buns are probably loaded with preservatives. If you don't see a fur coat on there, it's fine.

Does it smell abnormal?

Long before it LOOKS bad.... Sniff it. If it smells like alcohol, throw it out. <serious Vega look>

+1. Also, if you did accidently ingest, green/blue mold growing on bread products won't hurt you.

It will, however, hurt the mold.

Depending upon amount ingested, and one's current immune system tolerance, not much, except for some "squirrel-iness." Take it as you wish, gf. ;-)

heh.
thought my sammich tasted a little funny/alcoholy last night:rolleyes: threw that loaf into the trash.
I make a sandwich for lunch until my whole wheat loaf is gone. The day before I see the mold the bread tends to taste a little off. I have yet to get sick on the bread and quite a few times I am half way through the sandwich when I notice the white specs. That doesn't stop my lunch. Now I freeze the loaf so it is a not an issue.
One more reason to eat whole wheat bread, mold visibility.

YTrue enough! Actually, you will have ingested a small amount of natural penicillin!:D Druidic Celts used to pack wounds that were getting infected with bread molded with Blue Green mold to combat infection and by all accounts, it was very effective!;)

People have been eating moldy bread for centuries- probably millenia. Ain't gonna hurt ya, although you probably don't want to go out of your way to eat it. Just discard the moldy sections and you'll be fine.

And Alexander Fleming found that a bit of penicillium mold from bread that had contaminated a staph culture killed the staph. The rest is history.

Ooops...
Oh well, it tasted pretty normal, and I'm not sick so I guess they weren't that bad.

i'd eat moldy bread before i'd eat fresh hotdogs.
we know what bread is made of...
hotdogs?
fly lips and a-holes are just the first two ingredients.
i'd say the same goes for spam, but last time i mentioned something bad about spam... well, it wan't pretty.

I thought Ergot was a mold that effected the grain itself, not one that grew on bread. Could be wrong about that though. I'm too lazy to do any research on it.
Also, isn't ergot the mold that caused people to go crazy cause it makes natural LSD?

Details, details. :)
Yes, that's right. In some circles it is believed to be at the root of the Salem Witch Trials hysteria.

It grows on the grain. Ergot is also used to treat migraine (although less so nowadays, and probably a good thing- I hated that stuff when I was taking it).

It has to be heated, like in baking bread. Bake rye flour contaminated with ergot and ......WOW!
It starts making gang signs.

Ever hear Chris Rock's stand-up routine about (I'm paraphrasing)
"Why are people always saying 'Don't eat red meat'? Man, if you get ahold of a red rare steak you should bite the **** out of it! 'Don't eat red meat', that's crazy. DON'T EAT GREEN MEAT, now that's some good advice."
