Timo, before you even spout off anything about my TT bars not being cross legal ... that depends if its an amateur race / accepted locally ... and also I do have my drop bars that I'm prepping :D... On my drops I will be using tektro cross top levers w/ shimano exage levers.
For now... here are a few pics of the almost final bike. Just need to put the FD on and chain and cut the excess wires.
I listened to my gf and left the paint job in so-so quality for now (seeing as Montreal thieves are all arseh*les)
I got a bit of house cleaning / stuff to do so I'll prolly post the in between photos of while I was building this bike either tomorrow or monday... I'm off to a wedding this weekend. Cheers !
Specs:
Shimano 105 groupo minus the rear caliper which is a long reach exage caliper.
Specialized mtb SPD pedals
Shimano Ultegra 600 downtube shifters / will be upgrading to kelly take-offs
Nashbar TT bar with tektro r4.0 reverse TT levers
Ritchey SpeedMax Pro Comp tires 700x35c (yes I barely have clearance thats why I have the exage caliper on the back)
Veluta Typhoon rims
Nashbar camo cork handlebar tape.
Also I am giving away my sugino 172.5 50t crank which needs new pedals and a good cleaning its a square bolt crank, for either local pickup or just pay the delivery charges... PM me

not my taste - would have gone for disc brakes  but it looks as though you put a LOT of work into that.

Very nice job on the clean up. Solid build.

It took longer waiting for the parts. While I waited I stripped the paint, painted, sanded, etc.
Thanks for the compliments.

That's an awesome build. I've got a few questions though (as I've got an '82 Peugeot PH12). How did you fit 35s on there? I had some Michelin cross tyres on mine which are 700x32 (but more like 35s) and they would rub on the stays ever so slightly. I didn't have any trouble fitting them between the calipers though as long as I put the wheels on with flat tyres. Would you mind posting a pic of the clearances of the tyres?
I'd been thinking of using my Pug as my spare cross bike but I wasn't sure how well the old brakes would cope with the rain/mud. Have you had the chance to test yours out in poor weather?

nope... I need to put the FD on and the chain and inflate the tires...
clearance on the rear is a good inch
on the front its about maybe 1-2cm max but I need to swap out the fork for a cross fork and cantis will give for another few cm of clearance...
I'll take photos... The front tire is really really close almost rubbing.
The rims I bought said specifically 700x35 and I just bought tires to match I should prolly go with 32s or even 30s... I had put the 35s on my 25 rims and they didnt clear at all... just made one huge tire... I guess the rim spread the tire out the way its supposed to be.

ok so the front derailleur is on and the chain locks when I coast in reverse. seems like I have a little rear wheel misalignment. Gotta get it adjusted 2-3 mm. and I'm good to go.

UPDATE:
took Mu out for its maiden journey and all I can say is zoom zoom...
with the front tire rubbing I decided to swap out my cross tires for my road tires. The rear has a LOT of clearance and the front is just shy from touching.

That power crank looks crazy !!! except it costs a fortune.... I guess I will have to wait to get that with my rohloff speed hub setup :p

yeah, powercranks rock - they sometimes show up on e-bay so you could always check there.
and, no, I'm not jealous about the speedhub, honest :(:)
I'm hoping one of my future bikes will have a speedhub, preferably a nicolai g-boxx bike :D - when I have enough clams :o
