Road Cycling - Ritchey Break-Away travel bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Has anyone ridden one of these or heard/seen a review. Looks like a much better alternative than a folder for travel.
Thanks,
Raymond

No, I've not tried one, but it looks like a good idea. I do get annoyed with the hassle of lugging a bike case as well as the additional fees. I’m not a great mechanic (but I’m learning), so I tend to use a large enough case that lets me keep most of the bike intact.
A good friend of mine had good luck sending his bike case to a bike shop near where we intended to ride. He called ahead and they had no problem holding it for him. I think he used UPS, but it may have been FedEx. This worked well as he didn’t travel directly there, but had to make a few days worth of stops for business along the way.
It takes a leap of faith, but so does handing the case to the airline…

It seems quite pricy and not as effective as
http://www.sandsmachine.com/
which can be built into any existing frame.
There are a number of purpose built high performance "takedown" bikes , which are not really folders. Moulton, Bike Friday, Airnimal or Soma travel bike.
