I need to order a set of toe clips (well, need is not a real condition for things like this, but I want a set). I can not get them at a bike store in China. Yes, I have tried. The only place that even knew what I wanted (and has a set on a bicycle in the showroom) told me that they are only available as replacement parts for bicycles that are originally equipped with them, they need to send in the broken one to get one replaced.
After they made some calls to their supplier (Giant) it was determined that the only way to get them is to have them purchased and shipped from the USA (Which is utterly crazy, considering that they are made in China; but, a lot of stuff is like that, I still remember trying to get a replacement power supply for my iBook).
So, I am preparing to order a set, have them shipped to a friend, than have him reship them to China. Considering that I will be going through this much hassle, can anyone recommend a type to me? I ride a touring bike both on and off road, I wear all types of shoes, from sandals to boots. I like the sandals on long trips. I tend to keep my clips loose (often I do not use the straps at all). Cost is an issue; so, no insanely expensive ones.
If I were in the US I would just go to a shop and buy a set with no consideration at all. However, because of what I will have to go through to get them, I want to get the purchase right on the first try here.
