A while ago, Bdinger posted (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=316228&page=2) a thread about the Specialized Hardrock and how it was *THE* clyde bike. I said that I was putting 700c wheels on mine. He didn't think they'd fit. I said they would. In fact I said that I could fit 700x35s.
The news is in. 700C do fit, they're on the bike, and a crappy photo is attached. The bad news is I only have 700x28s on. 700x35s would fit if I also changed the front derailleur, and I'm still planning that.
Its my daily drive now - and it feels a lot faster than its previous incarnation.
The bike is a Specialized Hardrock Sport 2006.

Tyres: Specialized Armadillo 700x28c

That looks sexy in a disturbing sort of way! Kind of like a Rhino in Ballet shoes!:p, or a Clydesdale in a tutu!:D

Wow, I've been wrong before, but I've never been wrong and jealous at the same time! That thing is so ridiculously sweet, I can't even express it.

Thanks bdinger - I'm riding it to work daily, the biggest thing that I've noticed so far is the increased height means that I can't put my foot down as easily. I almost dropped it (and since I was clipped in, dropped me as well) avoiding a pedestrian on Monday.
And I still want to swap out the forks for rigid ones. I have a set I can get put on, however it will alter the geometry to be more road-ish, so I'll think about it for a couple of months.
Oh... and just for reference.. here's how it used to look.

If it's just for commuting and not going offroad any, you could get a set of longer crank arms. That would allow you to lower the seat so that you can toe down easier. Though you maybe desire to lower the handlebars afterwards as well (if possible).
Just a thought.

My son did something very similar to a Rockhopper, BB7's and all. He put a CF fork on his. The bike works real good for him. But he spins the MTB crankset out so he is looking around for a road crankset. Nice job on yours.
