Hey, I'm trying to work out a ride with a few more hills in it, and I know the longer Hipp ride has some, but I'm a bit confused as to when and where they turn.

From 320 heading east (I'm assuming) turn right on NW 135th Ave (that kind of bumpy road, dark pavement) then right when that road ends onto NW 188th St. and then when that ends, turn right onto HWY 329 heading south? I know heading north on 329 will take you back to that 4 way stop and you can just take a right onto 320 back to McIntosh, but I keep hearing about the rolling hills out there that I'd like to have a shot at. I'm looking at a topo map and not seeing anything too obvious (still looks like the interstate overpass is the biggest/steepest...).

Any pointers or tips? Thanks a bunch!

I should point out that I guess I'm riding the route backwards... I hate coming back on Williston Road, so I head out on Williston instead.

I don't have a map in front of me, but the Tuesday Hipp ride I believe[1] follows the normal start, up angle road, down the road that goes by the strip club, south down into Marion county, over to dungarvin road (193rd), east to 441, north on 441 to the right turn off 441 through Earlton, north back up to Micanopy, up 441 to Short Wacahoota, up to Williston Rd. and home.

If you're really looking for a solid hill workout, consider some of these options:

1. do repeats on the I-75 and NW 39th overpass; seriously.
2. do repeats on the I-75 and Millhopper overpass.
3. head west on Millhopper to 241, north to 94th, west to that first hill. Do repeats on that (the side coming back from the west is much steeper).

If you're just looking for a nice ride with some good hills, you can also look at this map (http://www.astro.ufl.edu/~ken/sw-60.gif) for a pretty decent hilly route that's about 60 miles.

[1] I've never done the Tuesday hipp ride, I normally do the Tuesday NW GCC ride; I'll sometimes go play on the Thursday hipp ride.

Beautiful, yeah, that sounds about right! Thanks! I was a little bit off...

Most of the time I'll just head over to campus at night and I've got a route that makes a bit of a figure 8 and gets longer each lap - going up the engineering building hill next to Shands and an alternating hill up to Stadium road each lap. Ends up being 8 or 9 times up the engineering hill in about 20 miles, so it's not too bad.

I don't think I could bring myself to ever just sit and do hill repeats (yet), but I'm pretty sure I hit most of those hills you mentioned while finishing up a solo Tour of Prisons last weekend. Tough stuff.

Thanks!
