I need to get a good gauge for the Big Liberty. What do you guys recommend? Do I just go for ye 'ol pen guage?

My floor pump (which is all I ever use) has a gauge on it...so I don't have a separate gauge. Actually I do, but never found it to be very reliable, so its in a box somewhere.

Got a Specialized pump with a gauge. Fairly accurate, maybe about 3 psi low compared to my Zefal hand gauge. I also have another Topeak Joe Blow with a gauge. It's also a bit off. I compare them a few times and every so often. After I know my pump is 3 low, I compensate when using the pump instead of checking everytime.

I have a floor compressor and a big gauge like the truck tire shops use. Who knows how accurate it is, the tires haven't blown off the rims yet is about all I can say about it. Actually I read somewhere that those kind of gauges are as accurate as any and more than most.

I have the same setup at home terrierman. I am looking for something for the tour or when I blow a tire.

+1 on Zefal handhelds

But, I have a built-in on my floor pump (Serfas fmp200) and my frame pump (topeak road morph) so I don't use the Zefal's anymore.

A quality floor pump should do you right.

I've worked in the automotive business most of my life and have not found a better "Pen Type" gauge than the ones made by Milton.I've been using them since the early 70's. Most good auto parts stores (Not the discount ones)carry the Milton brand of air gauges and fittings. The part # S-925 is a standard gauge 20-150 psi, The S-927 is a dual chuck head 2-120 psi. Should be around $6 or less for either one.

I use my floor pump gauge too at home. It is probably accurate enough for my needs.

I have a little key chain, digital gauge from Walmart in bike bag that is probably not highly accurate. But I figure if I get a flat on the road, that will be accurate enough to get me by.

I'd advise that you stay away from the Topeak digital tire pressure gauge. I bought one from performance a while back and immediately returned it. The gauge would get stuck on my presta valves as I removed it and would let out a ridiculous amount of air, which defeated the purpose of using it in the first place.

I just picked up a Topeak Joe Blow Sport floor pump to replace a 10 year old Zefal Big Shot that was finally wearing out. I also recommend just getting a decent floor pump and using the gauge it has. The Joe Blow Sport is an excellent floor pump which I highly recommend.

+1 I have a good gage on the pump, but if you gotta get a pen gauge, then Milton is the one. It is what I use for the cars and has never let me down!

I have a gauge on the floor pump, and I top up the tires at least every couple of days, I squeeze the tire, and keep pumping until it's close to the other tire. I have never found a gauge that worked properly, other then a gauge on a pump, most of them leak too much air, before registering anything.
