Foo - Things got ****ed up while I was gone huh?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyway, while I was gone and BF was getting messed up, I took some nice pics. Here are the first of them. I got a lot more to upload, but no good way to do it.

Lots more pics to come when I upload them, but no more tonight since I'm about to go out. I'll upload them from a better conection and see if I can make a slideshow tomorrow.

The Michigander. That's where I've been.:)
Everything is in the upper part of the lower peninsula.

I'd like to see a map of your route. And I'm SURE you must have gotten a new jersey.

OMG. Man in Lycra. With nice cycling thighs. Why am I so olddddd? :p
Where's all that extra gear you take along, Mich? Not on either of the two bikes. Was it all on your back?! EGAD!
Heh. I'll tell ya what that guy (meh, no self-respecting woman would be seen with it) can do with the fake Lambo. ;) Heh.
I loves me that pic of the stuntman, uh, future childless-man. ;)
I'd drive that terrible abomination of a kit car.
I wouldn't pay much of anything for it, though.

It wasn't all about getting messed up. Siu got all feisty on the Road forum. She was awesome. :)
We didn't know you were gone. :D

You know Vega, it's funny. The guy in the pic is at least 40. He may or may not have kids, but I certainly doubt he's gonna have any new ones at his age. I forgot his name, but he's pretty well known in the MTB world. It wouldn't surprise me if he posts on BF.
The gear is as follows: gore tex rain coat, camelbak bladder, camera with 2 spare batteries, wallet, pump, 3 tubes, knife, but you can see that on my shoulder, Alien multi tool, big grape juice, flashlight, batteries and a spare bulb, insect repelant, water goggles, a little bit of snacks, (although we picked a lot of berries this year and didn't take much food riding) 10 feet of 550 cord, and a cigarette lighter.

Nah. Not Pete. Pete would never come to Michigan. This guy lives here.

Here are a few more pics. First is me doing the classic Shadiyah pose in Hartwick pines State Park. As nauseating as it is, Hartwick Pines is the very last place in the lower peninsula that was never logged. The Mason family owned the property, and they protected it. The pine trees there, like the ones that once covered all of Michigan, rival Giant Sequoia's in height, but not width. Some of them are about 12-15 feet around, but nothing you could drive a car through. Still, a tree that was 300 feet tall when Columbus was a toddler is always cool.

Great pics, Mich! Is that a trail on the left side of the Au Sable?

Thanks.:)
I don't think there was a MTB trail near there. The one we were on was just a rail trail. Slightly improved with crushed limestone, hence the mask in the one picture. Lots of trails in that area though. Michigan has 19 million acres of state land, and a similar amount of trails to go with it.

My brother and I wanted to do the last day really fast. But alas, he had a bad boute of flats. The first replacement tube's presta valve blew out while we tried to pump it. I faulted my pump, and threw it into the woods. We then pumped another tube with his pump. It somehow pinch flatted. We made it in by filling the tire with grass, taking turns peddaling his Trek. Before the flats, we litteraly passed eveyone we saw on the road. It was a 47 mile day. We crossed the finish line at 12:30, and people were saying how surprised they were that we weren't in at 10:30. We were hauling so much ass until the flats. Oh well, it made for some cool pics.

A concert Cheboygan had put on just for us. For 2 guys with a bongo drum and an acoustic guitar, they did a hell of a good job of covering REM. It looks like nobody was there, but there were at least 40 people to the right of the shot, because that's where the free food was.

A guy we know did that this year. Me and my brother would have, but a leg injury from screwing up a jump he did stopped us from wanting to go. All kinds of bacteria in water. Anyway, our friend, who is 68, he went tubing, and his tube popped. Being the retired Navy guy that he is, he swam in.

Edit: I thought you meant chiggers going after us while picking the berries. If there were any in the berries, they must have added flavor.
