Advocacy & Safety - I think I crossed paths with one of you tonight

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I got a random compliment tonight when I was out taking a after-dinner spin along the coast. Whilst riding down this dark, tree lined street when a cyclist coming from the other direction shouted out " You're doing a good job!" I am assuming he was referring to the front and rear lights on my bike, as his bike was sporting some pretty bright lights and he seemed like a commuter, and most people I saw out tonight were lacking any lighting. Maybe he was just stoked that there was someone else riding a bike. Either way, its nice to have somebody yell out a positive comment for once.:)
Bonus: This was my first ride on 700x23's, they feel quicker and more snappy than my 28's. I like it.
Double bonus: They were free!
nah, if it were one of us you would have heard "You should be riding in the right tire track, and use hand signals!"

One time I was riding home and preparing to take the usual left turn from a main road onto a side street into my neighborhood. So I had moved over to the center of the road (no separate turn lanes) and had my left arm out the whole time. There was a cyclist approaching from the other direction, but I had plenty of time to get through, so I went ahead. After I made the turn, I'm sure I heard him yell as he passed the side street, "Nice signalling, John!". Not sarcastic, as far as I could tell. But to this day, I have no idea who he was. Everyone I've asked since then has said it wasn't them!
