This morning, i was planning on taking the day off from riding, but a car alarm that was set off and would not shut off after about 30 minutes changed that, I just had to get away from the noise. I geared up and decided to go explore the Burke-Gilman Trail here in Seattle. Did a quick search online and found a map that said from beginning to end, it was about 14 miles. I'm thinking, cool, a nice 28 mile ride, beat my personal best by 5 miles and back home in no time.

I set out, and got to the 14 mile mark, and no end in sight to the trail, so I figured I'd keep on rolling along. Eventually, I did find the end of the trail, at about 20 miles. However, I remembered seeing another trail, the Sammamish River Trail, connecting to the BG about a mile back. Went and hopped on it and took it for about 3-4 miles. It looked like rain might be on the way so I turned around to head back.

All in all, ended up doing 44.21 in 3 hours 13 minutes for an average of about 13.7. My previous long was 23 miles. This has me contemplating doing a metric century along this route in a couple of weekends from now before i head back to Illinois to finish up school. If there are any clydes in the Seattle area that would like to join me on Saturday, August 4th, I will be leaving from 24th and Market in Ballard sometime that morning. Here's the path we'd most likely take, all of the burke gillman, sammamish river trail until we hit about 32-33 miles, then a bite to eat for lunch, then turn around and come back along the same route. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1158998 is the general idea, we may go shorter or further depending on how accurately I mapped it. Let me know either here or via PM if you'd be interested in joining me on my journey.

What a cool post, a new personal best from a Clyde is always good news to read. Congratulations are in order! Then as if that was not enough you are planning a Clyde Ride. I can't wait to read about that, I suspect you will garner at least 3 or 4 riders to go along with you, sounds like fun.
