Training & Nutrition - shouldn't use cycling gloves for wt. training?

Part of my fitness regimen includes going to the gym to lift weights, mostly for my upper body and bench pressing no more than #100 (rotator cuffs shot). I wear bike gloves on my ride to the gym and I would use my bike gloves for weight training but my concern is that doing so would just compress the gel in my gloves, negating the vibration and shock-absorbing benefit of using them for cycling. I don't want to end up buying new gloves too regularly.
Yes, I know, it's eccentric to even be concerned about such a thing but.. humor me. Has anyone used their cycling gloves at the gym and consequentely found that they feel more vibration and shock through their gloves?

Why wear gloves while working out? I have never found them to be useful while working out.

I don't wear gloves when lifting, either.
You guys have never tried doing deadlifts before. They'll rip the bloody calluses right off of your hands with one small mistake.

My wife uses her OLD cycling gloves in the gym. They did eventually tear the pads old of them.
Many guys in my gym use gloves. It is always for the same reason. Their wives and girlfriends don’t like it when their hands feel like sandpaper against their more sensitive parts. Keep wearing gloves. Your girlfriend will like it.:) Old tire tubes cut up work good also. I also love chalk and batters rosin. However the batters rosin is so sticky, many gyms ban it.
BTW: If your rotators are weak (not Ruptured or torn) do rotator cuff exercises. Use very light weight. They can get stronger.

i think the weight lifting gloves are thicker, not sure how cycling gloves would hold up using them for deads and such. I use em more as precaution of me hurting my wrist(s). If you want soft hands, add lotion before the gloves go on, like that guy from that book Of Mice and Men ;)

weight lifting gloves are definitely thicker and have much more resilient padding. i believe cycling gloves are more adept at force absorbency than supporting a constant force. personally i wouldnt mix weights and cycling gloves. however it's all personal preference

Separate and specific gloves for each activity. Using cycling gloves for weightlifting is like using boxing gloves for gardening.

I've been riding my bike to the gym for many years. The thought of taking a special pair of weight gloves, or even putting my bike glove off and on so I can be manly, seems a bit odd to me, plus it takes time. Bike gloves work fine in the gym. They get more beat up on the bike than in the gym. I suppose if you lifted in the pouring rain they might get a bit stretched. All the same, I don't take my newest pair of bike gloves . . .
