This week, everything seemed to work against me, I try to ride most days, with only Wednesday as a day off, because I have other things to attend to that day, and the timing doesn't work. Until today, when everything seemed to work out:D
Well, looking at my ride notes:
Sunday 15km
Monday, 0km, Ride cancelled due to a thunderstorm.
Tuesday 15km
Wednesday 0km off day
Thursday, 2.6km, ride shortened due to a thunderstorm
Friday, 0km Ride cancelled due to high winds (35km/h).
Now we get today, I set a new personal distance record as a Clyde, 50km (31 miles), wasn't a fast ride, had some nasty hills, and the friggin' wind was still blowing at pretty close to the limit, and of course coming home I had a head wind. Didn't carry enough water though. I need to carry the Camelbak on any planned ride over 40km, and need to plan at least a 5 minute break every hour, with some food and some energy drink as well, as I came pretty close to a bonk at one point.
This week the forecast is for no thuderstorms and fairly calm winds, heres hoping.

Congratulations on your new record:D
progress little by little! just make the next good week really good.
I haven't been able to ride since my Sunday ride. I travelled on Monday, got a root canal on Tues morning, and ever since then it's been in the 90's with about 70% humidity, which wouldn't hold me back normally, except I'm on codeine and I almost passed out from the combo at the car dealership when I went to pick up my poor dying car.
I've tried to ride twice, but my jaw starts to throb and I start to feel sick.
Just thought I'd share that.

I thought Codeine was illegal in the US, it is illegal to ship it from other countries, to the US. In Canada it's actually fairly easy to get, you go to the pharmacy, and ask the pharmacist, no prescription needed, but they do keep it behind the counter. It metabolizes as morphine, so you want to avoid it, when you can. I will say, for pain Percocet works well for me, although, I do try to avoid it, when I can.
As for the dying car, I can relate, although you need to be careful, that your not throwing good money after bad, if your spending $200 a month on repairs of an old car, there are deals to get a mortgage on a new one for under $200, and sometimes that is a better way to go, buy a new one, then drive it until it either drops, or gets too expensive to keep fixing. Of course if you use the car only when absolutely necessary, then it should be possible to get 20 years or more out of a car.
Some folks say car free is better, and it is, although car free can be difficult in many parts of North America, where they seem to like dividing things up into 25 mile sections, so that it's 25 miles to get to anywhere. You drive 25 miles to get to work, 25 miles in another direction to get to shopping, 25 miles in another direction to your religious institution of choice. Of course moving to a city where there is good transit, and things are closer together are a good option, just make sure the dumb*ss mayor isn't going to try to syphon off the funding for his pet socialist programs, like the village idiot here in Toronto. Toronto is the only major city in the world, that acts like a village, and elects the village idiot as mayor.
This week has been even worse, I am afraid, rode Sunday, rode Monday, my knee was bugging me on Tuesday, I think it's from climbing into my delivery trucks (I load trucks for a courier at night), all night long. Wednesday was my scheduled off day due to scheduling conflicts, which managed to resolve themselves, but too late for a ride, longer then about 2km. Thursday, ended up being a shopping day, and I was unable to go. Today the weather says Thundershowers, but checking the radar it looks like maybe a go, if I go now, but I just got up and had lunch. I do need to get to a special store to pick up some Gatorade powder, as I am out, and I would like to hit the bike shop, so if I double up my normal ride, and then go for a little extra tomorrow, then I might break 100km for the week. I may skip the bike shop as I pass right by a different one (or two) tomorrow......
Knee stuff can nag around forever! Glad you're at least getting some saddle time.
I have 110k on my car, and was hoping to get about 50k more. I live in the cities and can bike to almost everywhere (except, ironically, my bike shop!), but I travel a lot and need a car for that. Plus, dog hauling.
I'm basically an aspirin person, so I can't figure out why I feel so bad. I'm going to go to the drugstore in a few moments and get a thermometer. I think I may have a fever. Teeth are funny things... a tooth infection can affect your whole body. I've been on antibiotics (those wipe me out, too) but I'm just feeling more lousy each day.

We just decommissioned our car, the odometer stated 312312km (194062 miles, looks better in km though). 110k, heck that's just barely broken in.
