I am moving to Weaverville (30 minutes west of Redding) from San Diego. I have found races for the SF area, but that is still 3 plus hours away from Weaverville. Is there any other races that are farther north in California? How about any in Southern Oregon near the CA border? Thanks...

I cruised the web for a few minutes and found only mountain biking north of Sacramento and the Bay area. There have to be some racer types up there. I suggest you contact the USCF or whomever handles amatuer racing in the US now and ask for racing teams in your area. If necessary you may need to start your own.

Check OBRA.org for any races in Oregon.
We have a great weekend serie in Portland in the fall, Cross Cruasade.
But it might be a little far for you.
Good Luck

Well, I wish I was livin gin "way, way" Northern California. Portland seems to have an outstanding scene. Enjoy the move an dgood luck. It sure is beautifu l in Northern California. I am from northern NY and am thinking of making the move to NorCal. I was in Humboldt-Arcadia and want to go back.

The Kinetic Konveyance Race in the Eureka area is about the biggest pedal powered race in that area.

Call Chris or Jenn Carr at Shasta Mountain Guides (you'll have to google them, I can't remember the #). Chris is a big rider and would know all about the Shasta series. So would many of his guides.

I hear it's a riot of a series. Good luck!

A local shop puts on the Southern Oregon Outlaw Cyclocross series. The first race is Oct 20th and there is a clinic on the 14 th. There is a local race in the Ashland area, but it is more unofficial and not sanctioned. For information on these races go to www.obra.org; for the Ashland rides call Ashland Cycle Sport at: 541-488-0581, they should be able to tell you about it.

There is also the Shasta Lake series in Redding. Last year it was late in the year (Like Dec through Jan). http://www.shastaraceseries.com/

I hope this helps and hopefully I'll see you at the Outlaw series. The first one is in my home town.
