This is pretty lame, but, I want a BMX bike, but I just want it to ride around town. Is any kind of bike good enough for riding around, or are there any recommendations? I'm pretty new to this bike stuff, please don't flame me if I sound gay. Oh yeah, I'd like to keep it under $250, also. Thanks.

Well, the DK General Lee 16 and 20 appeal to me, but that's only because they're cheap. I don't know **** about the specs. Here's the link. Linkage. (http://www.danscomp.com/products.php?by=NAME&cat=BIKES&show=DK)

Well if you want a 'normal' BMX bike then get the 20" version. 16" are for smaller kids, or big kids that already have a 20" and like to screw around with small bikes.

Hmm, actually, I might consider another bike. The Dk General Lee, or the Dk Step Up.
General Lee is $239.99, and the Step Up is $209.

Most of the specs are the same, so I'll tell you the ones that are different.
General Lee | Step up

Handles: Dk 2 piece 7.3" | Dk 2piece 6.5"
Stem: Alloy top clamp design | Alloy 1-1/8" top clamp design
Rear brake: Tektro 904A U Brake w/ Sticky Pads | Tektro 907A U Brake w/ Sticky Pads
Cranks: Forged 175mm 3 piece | 3 piece tubular 175mm Cro-Mo w/ Pinch Bolt
Sprocket: F3T Disk | 39T Iron Cross
Freewheel: 16T | 14T
Front Rim: Alex 303 48H Alloy Black | 48H Alex 303 Alloy
Hubs: 48H 14mm Axle | Dk Macho 48H Alloy 14mm Sealed Rear
Saddle: Dk Dirt Jump 3mm Rail | Dk Jr. Dirt Jump 7mm Rail
Seatpost: 25.4 x 250mm Steel | 24.5 x 250mm Steel
Tires: Kenda K-RAD | Moto85 85psi

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me which specs are better than the other. And which bike is better for the price.

Thanks for the help guys.

The General Lee is better, mainly because there's more chromoly on the frame compared the the Step-up.

No. The General is an all-around bike, just like most completes are these days (with an exception to the Fit completes, which most of them would still be good for all-terrains except the Street ones without brakes).

well yes, but i mean DK lists it as a dirk bike but it would still be fine for any other surface

Well, it was around 2:00 and I was tired, so I put BMX because I couldn't think of a better name, and I intended to change it when I was done posting. When I finished posting, I clicked Submit Topic and I realized I forgot to change the name.
