Just got back from a flat 40 miler with another tandem couple. We stopped at a newly established restaurant in the little town of Portage Des Sioux. Home made Apple and Peach pies were just coming out of the oven when we got there. They had real ice cream for the ala mode too. Absolutely wonderful!

Oh, and the bike ride was OK too.

No pics of the Tandem- And sacrilidge- No pics of the pie!!!!!!

Just think though- Another 20 miles and it would have been worth two slices of pie- possibly the second without the Ice cream to save calories.

HELLO! Check out the screen name. Does that sound like somebody who'd have the slightest clue about posting pictures on the internet?

You'd be interested, however, because we were riding a pair of pretty nice tandems.

Ours is a Santana Noventa - fillet brazed nivacrom frame road bike. It has shadeshifter paint that changes colors depending on how the light hits it. Ultegra 9-speed and a 10" Winzip mechanical rear disc brake.

My friend's bike is even nicer. It's a custom sized (XXL) Santana titanium frame road bike with S&S couplers. Frame is ball burnished. Equipment is basically the same as ours except it uses a Formula open hydraulic disc brake with a 10" rear disc.

There is a town named Hancock, MD, along the C&O Canal Path between Cumberland MD and DC. In the town is a place called Weavers where they advertise they bake 500 pies a week. I stopped there on my little trip for dinner one night. That week that had to bake nearly 501. Great Cherry Pie.
