Cyclocross - Replace my brakes for road bikes'?

A newbie to biking in general:

I have a Raleigh RX 1.0 that I am really beginning to like (what's the general opinion on the bike by the way?). I ride it mostly for commuting, long road ride, and some minor off-road stuff. I find that I am having to readjust my brakes every other day or so and thinking it's because of these cantilever brake calipers. Also, I am not comfortable at all how it brakes right now and prefer the road bike braking feel.

So would you recommend changing the brake calipers with some road bike ones?

My bike has the same brakes as yours and they do seem like they need attention quite often. The little twisty thing right by the brake lever is a joke it is always loosening up I set mine to the loosest setting then tighten the brake at the actual brake seems to hold much longer. I also found by adjusting the yoke, (I think it's called)it let me personalize the feel of the brakes, I prefer this option over my road brakes, personally. Here is the site I figured this out.

When I had cantilevers the only time I had to touch the cantilevers was to replace brake pads. I used the replaceable cartridge ones so there was no messing around. Basically they were fit and forget.

Maybe check the park tools website, Sheldon Brown's excellent website or your LBS to see what advice they can offer on setup and maintenance?

Hay if you are unsatisfied why not switch to disc brakes.
