Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. The Vino fans had coronated him prematurely. Sadly, they were....
incorrect.
But it sure is fun to watch that angry elf race. Tdf winner or no Vino RULES.

The GC race is most certainly over for Mr. V. But I wouldn't put another stage victory past him. He's one of the gutsiest dudes I've ever watched race a bike. You can't be a bike racing fan and not root for Vino. No chance.
I am a bike racing fan, and I don't root for Vino. He has skills, but obviously is lacking in racing sense.
I do think he makes a race better, so I love to see him in it. It is usually just a matter of time before he cracks though.
He is one tough SOB.

His race tactics leave something to be desired, but the man has serious stones.

Yeah, I do not dig hearing about his exploits. I respect his abilities but can't root for the guy.
And I enjoy the irony of him saying after his TT win "what I can say now is that I will attack" (a real shocker, I might add, no one expects the Vino attack! ;) ) and then bombing out the next day.

Sometimes Vino's ego writes checks his legs can't cash. On the other hand who else would attack the entire Tour de France peloton on the Champs in Paris with 2K to go and hold the fastest cyclists off @ the most coveted finish line in all of cycling?
NOBODY but Vino would even ATTEMPT such a kamakaze move. Make that **** actually STICK? That's how legends are born son.

Merckx has done many things like that.

Merckx has done many things like that.If you're talking Vino up, that certainly helps.

Vino would've blown up in the mountains w/ or without injuries. Face it, he is an average climber.

Sorry, I was talking about cycling in the post toe-clip era.
I hear that Babe Ruth fella could really hit a baseball too.

I haven't seen the stage so can somebody give me the cliff notes version of what happened to Vino today? I had hoped he'd have a good stage to liven things up a bit but obviously that didn't happen. When he won the TT and was only 6:00 back I hoped he might bring some excitement to the race but now he's down 34:00 so nobody will care what he does from here on in.

Vino climbs and cracks.
Looks pretty damn good today, eh? Waaay too far back for GC, but damn -- that guy's got heart! (and legs!)

Vino is out as far as the GC, but he's still fun to watch. He has heart & balls. I have more respect for him trying, than for someone like Levi promising an attack & then, playing it safe. I'd like to see Vino give it one more shot, but realistcally, there are too many tough young riders coming along for him to be competitive. He'll probably manage a team at some point.
