...was apparently a hotbed of cycling. I passed dozens of other riders today, which is dozens more than I usually see on the roads I ride. RABA probably had some event.
Since my regular bike is in the shop having its rear wheel repaired, I took my 25-year-old Motobecane out for a ride, and managed to complete 50 miles on the old beast. Some things I observed after being off this bike for almost two years:
1) Steel is real
2) Ultegra is overkill for recreational cyclists like myself
3) I miss indexed shifting and brifters, but not as much as I thought I would
4) Because when it's a little harder to shift, I find I do it less, and consequently push harder in all gears, giving a higher average speed
5) This bike never really fit me properly and seems even more ill-fitting since being on my newer steed for the last two years
