Mountain Biking - Pedals, what do you use?

What type of pedals do you use? Clipless/platform? Why?

clipsless, much more control over the bike and way faster :D

Flats...much more control over the bike and I am not attached... I do a lot of bmx style riding with my mtb (ok I try) and most of the trails here have skinnies and various stunts on them. I wouldn't ride stunts with clipless...

Clipless, like being able to fool myself into thinking I can peddle circles...
I find it helps on climbs, and I need all the help I can get climbing!!

If you're into XC, go clipless.

If you're into DJ and FR, stick with Platforms.

My XC pedals are Time A.T.A.C's, and I love them.

My platform are actually Shimano 646's that I wear with shoes without the cleat.

I mainly ride with Time ATACs because most of my riding is XC. I do switch off to platforms for urban and the like.

I ride ATAC's as well, and have no complaints. Though I'm biased since I've never ridden on anything else. But I really can't think of one bad thing to say about them.

Though the eggbeaters are looking pretty good too, but it's always nice to have something to stand on when you're in a tight spot. Even if it's a 2"x2" platform.

I have both. For trail riding clipless is the way to go unless you're Canadian and you ride trails that aren't really trails, but large pieces of lumber 30 feet off the ground.

But for my freeride/urban stuff, flats are the way to go. I find I can actually hop higher with flats. I'm looking for a good pedal that won't cost me an arm and leg tho..

I use studded flatties. Shimano MX30s I think they're called.

I have a pair of barely used Eggbeaters that I'll be posting on ebay. I thought I'd get into clipless after my road bike had them but I like the security of quick foot down when I need it.

I use both flats and clipless.

DH bike has Brooklyns on it so I have the option of bailing out if needed but enough grip to not have my feet slip off the pedal.

I have clipless on my xc/freeride bike and I use falts with grip tape on my dj bike.

Time Z-Control. ATAC Clipless system or flat.
Although the flats are too small and slick for DJ, there OK for quick urban runs.

I mostly ride XC, so I go clipless. But I was recently on the slickrock trail and wishing I had the platforms since I had to bail a few times.

Clipless for XC because they offer more power and control.
Flats for freeride and urban and tricks because they dont stick you to the bike if you screw up.
For just riding around a clipless/flat combo likethe one pictured above is nice

I use clipless because for what i ride there isnt a single reason not to use clipless once you get used to them. Besides eggbeaters just make a bike look cooler when they're on

I found them to be too slick when it gets wet or muddy, I think that the lack of a center pin or pins is what bugs me about them. I actually prefer my DK Iron Cross pedals that I use on my commuter bike.

All that said I'm switching to Time Control Z's as soon as I get settled into the new house.
