I'm back on track to ride my first century in August. It's been difficult getting in the miles I think I need, and I've had to drop my big training idea/plan to take a week long trip (job, family, you know the story). I had begun to worry that it wasn't going to happen (again!) this year. However.

Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day in Wisconsin - blue skies, light breeze, low humidity, temps in the 70s, so I took off at 1:30, thinking I'd spend a couple of hours riding around the city and aiming for 30 miles, tops. Four hours later I pulled up my drive and was very pleased to read 66 miles on the odometer. As I lay on the hammock, gazing up into the maple tree canopy over my head, I knew that I could have kept on going for another couple of hours without any problems. Man! I love my bike! I love summer! I love the way I feel after a long ride! And then I ate pizza like a teenager - it wasn't very pretty. :D

Now that's what bike riding is all about.
