What's that bike Saestre drove to victory today? It seems to me they don't use Cervelo bikes for the mountain stages. You guys know which make they do use? Also, some pics of these bikes would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Timo

The new Cervelo is called the R2.5.
It's a full carbon frame ie carbon tubes joined via carbon fibre lugs. The bike will be offered with the new Easton EC90 full carbon fork. Sastre was using a Time Avant STiff+ fork on his bike.

heres a link to the info on the frame;

Thanks Tim, but I guess it's not the same. Both Hamilton and Saestre rode an all black frame without Cervelo stickers. Any clue?

Timo

if i remember correctly, cervelo's site said that they were riding unmarked cervelo prototypes during the tour.

Aha, that would explain it. Thanks for your reply :)

Yes they're unmarked prototypes. The bike the team will be using later in the season is an SL (Super light) version which will weigh in at less than 1kg without fork. The frames they're riding now is reputed to be in the 1.15 kg territory and will go in sale around September

Thanks Tim! Does anybody have some pics of the unmarked prototype?

Timo

their url is:

You may be able to obtain a back issue from them.

Maybe not the exact model Sastre was riding, but here's another link:

This pic was taken previous to the start of the Classique des Alpes but it's the bike Hamilton and Saestre drove in this tour. BTW, I noticed that Hamilton switched to a new frame in Cervelo colors some days ago.

that article from the cervelo site linked to above mentions that sastre was riding the unmarked prototype (well, marked with a vroomen/white logo on the down tube and the e thingy on the headtube) and has a pic.

The bike was developed with help from Easton, hence the production bike will be speced with an EC90 Fork and not the Time Avant Stiff+ as per the prototype.
You will notice the prototype is also fitted with a Time HM Stem
