My question is how long is the tightline from the septic to the drainfield, on average...and you don't want to know why I am asking, trust me

I know the problem you are having. Where are you located? Sometimes there are varying local codes for this length.... I do believe we have a master plumber somewhere on Foo. He'll respond if you can provide a credit card number. :p j/k

Here's a ref in the meantime: http://www.cdhd.wa.gov/docs/FailureBrochure.pdf

thanks, I have seen that...I did find one break in the tightline but I think there may be more. I have been digging test holes and am still running into water from the tank....I wish I had a small backhoe

Sorry to hear about that. How old is this system? You might need to consider having a plumber have a look. He/she can probably locate the leak(s) a lot more efficiently....

When in doubt, have it pumped out.

If your leach-field is saturated because of the heavy rains you might well consider a pump out.
Look into to new mound system for your leach-bed area.

I,m looking into some investment property so I,ve been studying poo disposal online.DO NOT dump drain cleaner in your tank. You will destroy the sewage decomposing ability of the bacteria.
Are there too many trees(roots) in your leach-field?
Is your tank the old single vault type, not a double vault?

It looks like the tightline has collapsed. I think it probably was run over by a fire truck a couple years ago. Now I have to dig it all up. I got a back hoe coming sunday to help dig it up...if I have to I will replace the whole stinkin drain field
