started riding mountain bikes four months ago after a ten years layoff. Picked up an enduro by luck and have been loving it. I was given a used Trek 1000 by my brother in law and started road riding with a local group, mostly 40+ mile rides on the weekend and a few solo rides during the week. I really enjoyed it and recently picked up an 07' tarmac expert double. what a difference the two bikes are...well worth the money, if not in performance, at least aesthetically it is the best looking bike...I give myself a year, then onto centuries and crits. now, got to get out and log some more miles...

see you all.

Hello John, are you really out riding at what looks to be 9.59 pm according to my computer? You really are dedicated if you are out riding :D .

Are you still in Texas?

Welcome to BF!

not that dedicated yet, but I got to get out and log as many miles as I can :)

Yes I am still in Texas, but right now I am on vacation in northern cal. love the weather here! can't believe how much cheaper the bikes are in california than Texas! the LBS offer discounts and they are willing to entertain price drop, not like in Austin where I was given the weird look for even asking if they were doing similar sales.

Have you gone on any rides with the local Northern Californians? Where are you vacationing?

I can tell it's a matter of opinion about the weather--I think it's too hot, but you are so used to Teaxas you probably think it's downright chilly :) .

spent a week in orange county, right now in SF. The difference in the weather is not so much about the temperature difference, but to me not having to deal with the humidity is probably the best part about it. As far as rides, not much so far, but I am doing the ocean blue race this weekend...gut checking it...

Ah, summer in SF is a breeze (literally). When I lived in San Jose, we would go on trips to San Francisco to get not just less hot, but to cool off.

Good luck with the race!
