I am new to the forum and it has been several years since I have owned a bike, but that is about to change.
I have been looking at the TREK 7100 & 7200 and also the FISHER Tiburon & Zebrano. I realize they are very similiar, but would appreciate any advice. I am leaning to the Tiburon, but the final decision has yet to be made, but I am getting anxious.

I am 6'2, 210 lbs, will ride approx 3-4 times a week.

Thanks for you help & advice.

Hello Traveller1, any of those bikes will get you started, and indeed, get you off to a good start. If you think you will be cycling for the long term future, I would make certain to take each one of them out for a test ride of at least an hour.

Welcome to BF!

Thanks East Hill.

I was in the LBS yesterday for the 3rd time discussing the purchase with the salesman, and I had basically decided to go with the Zebrano, and I asked him was it worth the extra $85.00 to own it over the Tiburon and he said no, that their is very little difference in the components.
Any thoughts?

Any of them are fine beginner bikes. Just make sure you want the front shock absorbers. They tend to add extra weight and the front dips when you try to accelerate. Also according to the folks at the LBS they are not really shock absorbers. Anyway, you may consider the Trek 7000 Multitrack or somthing else without the shock absorbers. Ride them first to make sure this is what you want.

What's your purpose/direction in riding? Are you riding for speed or just fun?

I am riding for exercise, not sure you call that "fun", but I am looking for something efficient.I will be riding3 to 4 times a week, 10-15 miles per trip.

It was almost a year ago that I got a Trek 7.2FX for campus commuting and exercise when I started out at UT-Knoxville. I did two semesters worth of riding around on it and got in about 100-120 miles between class commuting and individual trips. I am 6'1", 145lb, and loved the hybrid for local commuting, though I found that 20-25 miles at a time was my limit on physical comfort for that style of bike. It's a great bike to get you hooked, and if your planning on riding in the sub-20mile trip range, I highly suggest it for exercise.

Hope this helps,
Alex
