Hi! I'm just back from a tour of Sweden and northern Finland. Rode from Stockholm to Strängnäs, Enköping, Uppsala, Gävlre än north, around the top of the gulf of Bothnia, and down to Oulu on the Finnish coast. Took a train from there as the weatherman threatened rain and thunder. 1700km, 17 days, 4 of them resting and a bit more gear than I really needed. They have lots of hills in the middle part of Sweden, I soon found out. Photos will follow when I have them sorted, resized and uploaded, might take I while. I weighed it at 93kg today, exactly the same as when I left.

Mariehamn harbour on Åland, a autonomous island region of Finland is a stop between Helsinki/Turku and Stockholm. The big passenger shipping companies thrived off selling tax-free booze and cigarrettes before the E.U. and now they make the trip take as long as possible to sell more drinks and food to passengers insted :-)

Why they choose to enter and leave the port almost simultaniously I have no idea, maybe to give people something to look at/talk about.

Hej, I was just checking out the crazyguyonabike -journals and found yours by accident. I read it for a while and started thinking "weren't there this guy in BF from Finnish West Coast talking about this kind of tour... didn't he ride a Thorn..." D'oh.

Seems like a nice tour. How did you like the scenery coming down South from Tornio? I hear it can be a bit dull (flat), especially from Oulu onwards, and even more so if you're riding into headwind...
