In the writeup for a track bike I'm thinking about buying, they write this about True Temper Verus tubing:

"Personally designed by us here at the Milwaukee Bicycle Co., and with the help of Waterford Precision Cycles, the Cream City Track Frame (http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=255&products_id=1429)consists of dynamic Verus steel tubing that has an ultimate tensile strength of 120 ksi, more than twice the strength of current aluminum alloys. True Temper incorporates a stress relieving process in the creation of the steel Verus tubing which removes the residual stresses created in forming any tubing structure. The result of this is a higher life than standard annealed tubing, incredible stiffness, liveliness, low weight, and the true feel of steel."

When they say it has double the tensile strength of other alloys, how does that translate to ride quality for me? There's different types of flexibility, right, like lateral, tensile, etc., (sorry I'm pretty clueless about this)- can someone tell me how this tubing will ride differently versus other steels or other Al bikes? Anything about Verus, really.

Thanks

EDIT: I found this by "googling" it: "Also, with any material, there is a trade-off. As strength goes up, ductility usually decreases. The lower strength steels fail in bending, not by brittle fracture." Again, not sure how that changes the ride...

Those frames are super sweet! I talked to a guy at Bens who told me all about them. The beauty of steel is now stiffness is also optimized by tubing wall thickness, shape and the use of better alloys. Its why I had my "pretty much all the time" track frame made of steel. All steel frames will have some twist in the front triangle under hard hard torque but the beauty is the frame will last you several crashes and many years of wattage.

Another sweet steel frame to look at is the one True North Cycles makes. They're a custom frame builder that can incorperate design features that tailor it more for specific events. Thats who built my frame, I wanted one specific for sprinting, its bombproof, stiff as hell!, handles amazing and has held up to 2 very spectacular crashes. Affordable and dependable. They even sorced this cool Tange Tubing that hasnt been made in years to use on their track frames. Too bad its not mine pictured on the site!

Heres the only close up of the frame I have. As you can see im no lightweight, And I cant flex this *****.
