Charity Events - NorCal Waves to Wine ride (MS150) Interest thread...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is anyone interested in doing the Waves to Wine MS ride in Northern California this year on Sept 29-30? I did it last year in Dallas for my friend with Ms so I wanted to do it again since I moved back home to NorCal.

Pat Bertotti, the new NorCal chapter President and former Houston chapter Pres, asked me to field a team this year so I'd like to get a BF group together. Please let me know if you are interested and I'll register a BF team and we can train and ride it together! Mike's Bikes is a sponsor so I think participants get discounts on merchandise from them!

Here are the basic details of the ride: http://wavestowine.org/

There are route options this year. A basic 40 mile 1 day short route and the regular 2 day route. (see link: Ride route description and maps (http://wavestowine.org/route.html)

Basically the ride starts at PacBell Park, goes over the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito and up the coast to end in Healdsburg. The overnight is in the Sonoma Mountain VIllage in Rohnert Park where wine and beer will be provided by Sonoma Vineyards and Fat Tire Beer!

Pat and her group have mapped out a great route this year so I'm realy excited about it.

So please post up here, PM me or emial me at garylee333@yahoo.com with any questions or if you'd like to team up to ride!

This ride has a lot of meaning to me personally because I will be riding for my friend with MS and my other friend's mother that has it pretty bad as well. So they and my family are my inspiration to do the ride again this year! Well, that and the chance to finally cross the GG Bridge and the great scenery up parts of the route of the ToC!

So please come along and join me and we can make a BF team!!

Thanks for your interest!
Gary

BTW: here's my training blog on Friendster: Gary's MS 150 training blog (http://garylee333.blogs.friendster.com/my_blog/)

If I am not working at my winery either of those days I'll volunteer to work one of the rest stops and say hello as you go by. I live between those two points. If you all go wine tasting before or after drop by Chateau St. Jean in Kenwood and ask for me. I can buy wine for friends at half price.

I went to the site you gave. Interesting. My uncles' company owns Sonoma Mountain Village and my brother lives just up the hill from your finish at lake Sonoma.

Sonoma Mountain Village is literally less than a mile from my house.
The 40 mile ride sounds like something I'd do. Wouldn't have to get into a car to do it and that's the way I like it :D

Cool! So let me know when you sign up! :)

I need at least 4 people, including myself, to make a team. I have one friend who's most likely in so I need a few more to complete a team! If you join I'll get you a  after the first day's ride!!!

Cool! If you have any questions or problems signing on to the team just let me know!

I actually only need one more to make a team after you sign on! :) My buddy, who just bought his first road bike, already committed to the ride. Plus I think Thien, aka AzureDrpTp, may also sign up with the team. So if that happens we'll have enough for the team... but I certianly welcome more if anyone else is interested!

Thanks again!
