Decided to finally buy a Brooks B-17 Standard after reading all the hype for so long. Price Point has them for 58 bucks so it was a nice deal. Received it yesterday, upon first impression it was as hard as a rock. Sounded like knocking on a wooden door, uh oh! Did the whole Proof-hide thing last night & installed it for today's maiden voyage.

Damn, this thing was comfortable right off the bat. Surely this has to get worse after a few miles, it's just too dang hard? Nope, 22 miles later & my bum was as pleased as can be. What I did notice is I need a new seat post with some setback & angle adjustment. I just ordered a Kalloy UNO with 20 mm setback today. I truly can't wait for it to be "broken" in because if that's when it's supposed to be truly comfortable then I'm in for a real treat. Brooks will be going on all my bikes. :D

I said this in another thread:

There are only two type of saddles out there: Brooks leather ones, and all the others that suck.

If brooks closes it's doors, I'll start hoarding saddles.

Just moved my well broken in 17 to the secondary bike, and am currently breaking in a 67.

Nothing beats a Brooks.

Welcome to the club. I joined a couple of months ago. Am also tempted to start hoarding them.

Hopefully one day I'll have the money to get that really funky seatpost that goes so well with it (can't remember the name right now, but I'm sure I can find it with a search when I'm ready).

 my Brooks.
