For Sale - Re: Everest's big sale - anyone received their items? (items now recieved)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I hate this type of post, and if it should be put elsewhere, tell me.

I bought some bar end shifters and RD from Everest. His post in the Markeplace was " Huge Sale- Road Bike Frames and Parts . . ."

Everest should have received the Money order July 6th or 7th. Eveverest PM'ed me saying he sent them Parcel Post on the 9th. He told me it could take up to 8 days for Parcel Post. Assuming those are 8 business days, it has now been 11 business days since shipping (15 total days).

Should I be worried? Have others who purchased items from Everest received them?

parcel post is pretty slow, could take over 2 weeks. Is there a tracking #?

No, no tracking number according to Everest - though I'm not sure Parcel Post ever has a tracking number.

I wouldn't be too worried yet.

You can pay an additional $.75 for Delivery Confirmation, which I usually do when shipping sold items. Mind you, this isn't tracking. It just gives you a printable online record when it is confirmed shipped. I'm not sure USPS offers tracking on any packages.

FWIW, I just shipped a pair of shoes Parcel Post from NJ to CA on July 16, and it arrived July 23, so it took 7 actual days.

Have you asked Everest?

When the post office is involved, you have to give the shipper the benefit of the doubt, and then some.

I bought a few items from Everest a few months back. It took a little bit longer to receive them than I expected but they all showed up exactly as described. Like the folks above said, USPS is unreliable in regards to parcel post timeframe.

Oh, and from what I remember Everest is not an everyday checker of these forums, so if you have his e-mail that's probably faster.

Yeah, I bought a Miyata stem out of that sale, and I seem to remember it taking about a week longer than expected. I sent the funds Paypal, and it still took 2 weeks. I seem to remember that it was sent USPS parcel post, which means they deliver it only after everything else is taken care of.

I bought several other items from Urbanknight, and they showed up 2 days after payment, going from the left coast to Ohio. The USPS gives much better service when you buy Priority.

I've never had a bum transaction with a BF member.

I bought some stuff from him, and everything went fine. Keep in mind that it can take 5-7 business days for the funds to clear through paypal and become available to the seller. Most sellers, Everest included, waited for the funds to clear, then he shipped the parts. They showed up shortly thereafter. All in all, it took a couple of weeks to get the parts- but there wasn't much he could have done to expedite that.

Just to clarify, Paypal's echeck is the only form of payment that takes time to clear. If your Paypal account is linked to your bank account and/or credit card, those forms of payment are immediate.

Hey man, I just sent you a reply to your PM I was away for more than a week riding on RAGBRAI without acess to the internet. In the PM I included a copy of the shipping reciept from USPS. I am a relieable and trustworthy member of Bikeforums and have never had a problem before, and to be honest I'm not real happy about you posting a thread that publicly casts doubt my reputation before you a had recieved word from me. I can sympathize with your postion but I have done everything I can. I cannot be responsible for the post offices delayed delivery time. Anyone wha has any questions about my credibility please contact me and I will do my best to explain the situation, I am a reliable trustworthy forum member and dont want anyones opinion of me unjustly tarnished. I have also included a copy of the shipping reciept as a public defenswe of my reputation. Hardheads package is the first one listed on the reciept.

Everest,

I understand you are trying, but it is frustrating. It's been a long time now. I realize it is parcel post, but it's been almost three weeks. I had hoped to do a build this weekend as I am traveling the next two.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to call you out on this forum, but just checking because I felt I had to. I had tried to contact you with no response. I had no idea where you were, let alone on RAGBRAI.

Folks here supported you, and that eased my concerns. I let is slide from then.

I just want the freaking package!

I wanted everyone to know. The package that Everest sent to me on July 9, 2007, finally arrived today, August 22, 2007.

Six weeks to come from Iowa to California. Amazing. The package looks perfect as well.

I would suggest NEVER using Parcel Post! The extra buck to pay the seller to use Priority Mail, is well worth the cost of the stress.

In short, Everest was true to his word. The postmark is July 09, '07.

Thank you Everest.

As all went well, I'm closing this thread now. Agree on the part of Parcel Post. And someone ask Lotek how long it took for the slow boat from the Neitherlands to get some parts to him in Dallas, Tx. ;)
