I live 3 miles from my new work assignment beginning the end of August (I'm a teacher), and we only have one car. My almost 20 year old son works but doesn't have a car yet, plus 2 in high school and one in middle school. Makes for lots of driving. So biking to work is one less trip in the car, and I don't have to be part of the trip schedule.
BTW, I live in Ft Bend County near the Harris County line and my school is inside Houston by <1 mile.
Are you moving to Houston, or just moving closer to work?

I do it, though I am less than a mile from work and live in the Montrose area, everything is pretty much in my reach via bike and it beats waiting for Metro can beat them 95% of the time without even trying when I include transfer times and walking to the bus stop. Though now you can put your bicycle on the racks of buses or the cargo area of park and rides though I have yet to do it, right now only some buses have rack supposedly metro is going to have it on all buses by the end of the year we shall see. What part of town are you on?

I live in Spring right now but work in the Energy Cord (Westheimer and the Beltway). i'm building a townhome on Dairy Ashford and Beechnut . . . So, when the home is complete, I refuse to drive again!

How is the riding on that part of town? Inner loop is alright just lots of pot holes though traffic is pretty courteous also.
