Anyone close enough to down town to see the gas plant explosions? Watching it on TV. We used to by chemicals from that exact location. Used to owned by Chem Central.

News reports I have heard have two employees of the gas company seriously injured with burns to face, neck and hands, transported to Parkland. One non employee transported somewhere else. No deaths reported. All employees of gas company accounted for according to Dallas Fire and Rescue, via WFAA tv.

I heard that one of the channel 8 reporters had a shrapnel wound to his head.

I couldn't see anything from out here by the airport.
Can you imagine tooling up 30 or 35 and a burning gas cylinder drops in
right in front of you (or on you!). yikes.

I work two and a half miles from that plant and we heard a rumble. One coworker asked if it was thunder, i just shrugged my shoulders. a few minutes later we see the cloud of smoke. It was a bit crazy traffic wise trying to get some lunch. I worked late so getting home was no problem.

Just what were those guys thinking trying to put out that raging fire with those hoses? One of those canisters actually hit Reunion Arena across the highway!!!!

The dude with the hose was a a co owner. He lives on site in a trailer. He was fighting for everything he owned! I really feel sorry for the guy.

DMN is reporting this morning that a supplier was making a delivery of acetylene, and that according to SW Ind. Gas employees, the driver of the truck made an error in hooking up lines to valves and caused the whole thing. The driver is saying, no, I was sitting in the cab. This could get ugly, from a who is paying for this crap standpoint.

Either the driver or the SW Ind employee needs to step up and take responsiblilty. There is nothing criminal in an accident happening, but lying to investigators is a whole other story.
From the financial liability viewpoint I can see the CYA mentallity.

I could see my boss trying to put up a brick wall real quick to contain a fire in our printshop, trying to save all he could. When its you build something from the ground up, it would be hard to see it all come to an end so quick. We do have sprinklers and a firedoor between our buildings as well
