...of the Elgin Cycling Classic (August 5). Form = not good, and word came today that I am busy baby-sitting...err....parenting that day. Oh well. At least my son likes watching bikes. We'll still be there watching.

Now that I'm looking though.....anyone want to watch my son while I race? ;)

I feel your pain. I was hoping to race as well but I am also "baby-sitting" that day. I will also be watching from the sidelines with my 10 month old. He doesnt know it yet...but he will like bikes!!! :)

My son loves it usually. Freaks when he sees bikes. Right now every time I start up the Tour coverage on my DVR he throws his hands over his head and goes "YAY!" like he's just won the stage.

*sniffle* I'm so proud....

Last winter at the Carpentersville Cyclocross race.

Pfft.

Race with the trailer. That would make it more fair for everyone else, anyway.

He looks mature enough to stay home alone. Just give him your cell number in case of emergency.

I wouldn't mind doing that, but I fear that he would be the one causing the emergency and I would never get the call.

Besides all he can say is "DA-DA!".....and "ball".

Drives my wife nuts. "Say Mama. Say Mama."

I want to check that out, as a spectator. I grew up in Elgin

I'll be there. Spectating, that is.

Will probably ride my bike down there as a recovery from hills the day before.

Psimet, you want to put that little Hampsten in the trailer and ride down there?

Oh, I'll be there whether I am racing or not. Went last year and enjoyed a nice day of racing. I suggest bringing a chair or you're going to be sitting on a curb.

Luckily if I ride I will have the trailer to haul the chair. :D

CyLowe...bring the family. Should be a good time.

So....tomorrow if the race. I am debating riding down to it or driving down. Need lots of gear to keep my son occupied for that long. Anyone else going? It's a pretty crowded race so we should make plans to meet up somewhere....

......HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....just kidding. You see my avatar. I'll be just up the road from the start/finish line if they are using the same course.

Just called and got the schedule of events timing wise:

8:00 Cat 5 A
8:30 Cat 5 B
9:00 Cat 4
10:00 40-50 masters
11:00 Womens (didn't catch category)
12:00 Kids
12:30 Juniors
1:00 30+ Masters Cat 4 and 5
2:00 Womens
3:00 Elite Cat ??
4:00 Pro Men Cat I and II

I will be there for the Cat 5 fiascos in the morning for sure. Last year I left right after the second women's race. This year I will last as long as my son does. I might ride down with him in the morning, watch for a while then take him back, run some errands and then come back for the finish.

Hate to miss the juniors -fun to cheer them on and they react, or Masters 30+ ....hmmm...
