So I took the day off and decided to the little one for a ride down by the beach. This little man is getting strong. The total distance was 29 miles average speed was low since we were riding along the HB walkway. We started in Fountain Valley on SART and Talbert, headed down to PCH then continued to Warner. I saw Jon (WhiteCarbonDude) on the way back (sorry I did not stop and say hello we were on a roll). Here are a few pics for you kids to enjoy while at the office.

BTW the little Lion has been retired ... my boy is all grown up.

HappyTime thanks for the Jersey he really likes it.

Very nice! My uncle recently took his son on a bike ride at the beach. The son got distracted by some bikini clad girls playing volleyball and he went off the path into the sand and flipped over the bars. Dad said better to learn that lesson now than when he starts driving!

And I knew Joy was short, but did she used to wear THAT jersey?!!!

It actually did not fit her, I think it was too big ;) just kidding it was too small.

Greg,
He had blast out there today. On the ride back on SART he averaged 17mph from PCH to Talbert

John, I love when you post these threads with pics of you and your boy (and the ones with Christine too) and the rides you guys go on. It's inspiring to see an entire family doing something so healthy and enjoyable together. :)

OMG John, Gabe is soooo cute! :D

I'm so glad that jersey fit him... it was a little tight across for me and I was bummed I couldn't wear it myself
(although I am happy to know that my chest is bigger than that on a 10-year-old boy!)

Thanks for the pics!

Hmmmm come to think of it, it might have been nice to see Joy in that jersey then :D

And just wait, in another few years he will be waiting for YOU at the top of each hill. "C'mon dad, we gotta go faster than that to average 20 mph!"

Trust me it won't be long.

I know, just promise me you'll still ride with him. My dad stopped riding when I started racing and got too fast for him. I would give anything to go back and sandbag once a week for him, then sneak out for a few more miles if my training needed it.

You'll just have to pull an Indolent when that day comes.

That's great advice, I promise. It's funny he was saying earlier today how he can't wait to get older so we could do longer rides.

Great photos. The kid is going to be an animal at this rate! And I'm still laughing at the jersey issue...

That's cool, I stopped and ate a power bar and then I went down to Laguna Cyn, then up to Irvine to surprise my wife at work. I can't wait till my boys can get out there with me:) that must be awesome. Maybe we can ride sometime on a Wednesday.

I love seeing the kids on the SART, maybe it's selfish, but I look at them and see a future TdF winner. I just wish in these days of obesity I wish more would join the weight conscious sport.

Tiff 17mph was sustained for the last 5 miles. Still damn good considering the heat.

It's so awesome to read about your family rides/adventures, and your boy is an animal!!! Thankfully I can pull the "I'm old" card when he drops me like a bad habit in the near future!
