I think with the most recent developments. IF the tour continues, Cadel Evans will win the tour. :D
Considering his TT ability and the small gap with contador. This is great news..As I find Evans one of the most respectable cyclis out there and have been hoping for this all along ( or Sastre ) however I am officially depressed about what is going on. And if I were in the same position of AC, CE, LL I would not continue. this is not the tour. this is a joke.

I'm biased towards Evans for obvious reasons but I reckon he deserves to win. You take a look at the way he struggled up those mountains and it was all he could to hang on. To me those are the actions of a man that is driven by pure hard work and grit. If it turns out he is doping as well then if I was him I'd fire his doctor. He's got some ****ty drugs in his sytem.

Ah, the wonderful sight of the Crazy Frog in a yellow jersey...

I don't think Evans will pull enough time off Contador in the TT to win the overall but he's an awesome racer who deserves to win as much as anybody. Cadell is a class act.
I thought that myself until I saw this:
Cadel Evans lost more time in the second Pyrenean mountain stage to Loudenvielle, where he was isolated and eventually ridden off the wheel of the yellow jersey thanks to constant attacks from Discovery Channel's white jersey wearer Alberto Contador. "I was in the position at 12km to go and then, those guys combined against me yesterday, what with Astana and Discovery behind, well, unfortunately I had to race a little conservatively.
His team-mate Chris Horner was the last to be able to hang with the pace, but was dropped before he could help his leader in the crucial moments. Evans was then left to play it safe and ride the wheels. "It's not what I wanted to do but I was completely on my own, it was up to the other guys to work it, but what am I supposed to do when I am on my own, everyone else had a team-mate."
Evans, who rode like a yellow jersey contender on stage 14 was left fighting for what appeared to be just a podium spot in Paris. "Unfortunately yes, but you have to play the cards your dealt. Twelve km from home and I am on my own, what am I supposed to do," the Australian complained. "Today I rode to conserve a little. Unfortunately the team hasn't got the budget to hire a rider who can close those gaps for me."

^ I saw the footage and it was not as bad as it sounds. makes Cadel seem like a baby. he was just visibly shaken and kinda let down. not really whining tho.
Cadel Evans will win the tour.
He's got as good of a chance as either of the Disco boys.
Just think about it. As of just a few hours ago we were set to watch a tour that was, in effect, OVER. Now, it's a three horse race, and I can't wait to see the boys go!

Two minutes is a small gap??
Contador isn't a bad TT rider. No way he loses two minutes.

It's jacked up. If Ras wasn't there, Contador and Levi would have double teamed Evans and there would be a HUGE gap.

perhaps small insn't the right word, perhaps reasonable gap. and it will be quite possible especially considering that contador was blown out by the end today. also take into consideration that there is still more days coming which can be made difficult.

I got some vacation time next year. Who else wants to ride the tour? I'll do it for 45$/hr in the saddle.

Not buying that part, who's going to make it tough. Disco is now the strongest team left.

Didn't you see Evans? He was totally wasted!
If you think that Wednesday finishing condition is relevant to a Saturday stage, Evans certainly doesn't have any advantage there. To the contrary, the younger man should recover faster.

Maybe he's wasted because....*insert shock and horror* he's clean? I can't think of anyone who shouldn't be hurting. Isn't that why this is supposed to be the toughest event in the world? The Tour/pro cycling is in for overhaul it looks like. Maybe a future version will take it back to a non-supported solo event.
remember, Disco has a long history of protecting the Yellow Jersey.
You can bet that Hincappie, Levi, et al will ride their butts off defending
for Contador, Yes even Levi. Bruyneel is too smart a manager to allow
them to lose the yellow on these last stages. Now the ITT is different
however look at the results, Evans finished the previous ITT at 1:14
Contador finished in 2:18 . Looks to me to be a very tight race between
the two, that is if there is a race to watch.

It's a long TT. Anything can happen (flat tire, etc).

I'd be nervous only being ahead by two.
