I hate when I forget to take my sleep meds.

I could also reallllllllllllllllllllllllly go for a pizza right about now. Dammit.

Guess this isn't going to help out much for recovering from my group ride last night.

Thanks for reminding me. I need to take my anti-inflamatory so my knee doesn't bother me on tomorrow's ride. Goodnight!

I actually did that before....laying in bed at like 11:30 p.m. back in December, I said screw it, threw the lights on the bike, and went out in 25 degree temps. Good stuff.

I can't get a pizza at this hour though, which really sucks.

Tombstone pizza? Not really the same, but not bad either.

I live in northeastern CT....i.e, the sticks. Great for cycling, not so great for getting food at 3 a.m.

Not even a convenience store? Man, that's rough.

GuitarWizard

I think there's a gas station/convenience store that's open nearby....

I just found some Ritz crackers though. Not quite the same thing as a pizza, but good enough for now.

Guess I'll go back upstairs and stare at the clock some more.

C'est la Vie. Pizza at 3am probably isn't such a great idea anyway, come to think of it. :D

I'm with ya... although I'm up because I have a 1 week old and I'm waiting for my wife so I can change her diapers! ha

Took her to her first race today and I flatted on the first lap and forgot my extra wheel... what a day.

I think they close at like 10 or 11 here.

Next time eat a late dinner at the Aero Diner.

I know the owner, he's good people. And some of the dinners you get there will necessitate being shoehorned back out the door. :D

GuitarWizard

I was actually thinking of that, but I thought they closed...didn't know they were open all night?

Mose

They're not, unfortunately. That was the original plan actually, but wasn't enough business to be worth it. They normally close at around 9. If you eat there at 8:30 though, you won't be hungry at 1:30 am :)

Ummmm...I can eat, and then 2-3 hours later be starving again :)

To the OP: Do you take prescription sleep meds or do you go the liquid Melatonin route? While my son was on Chemo and he stopped sleeping, the prescription sleep meds they gave us didn't help much, but we found liquid melatonin and withing 30 minutes he was begging us to let him to go bed.

I take both prescription and non-prescription meds....the prescription ones can develop an addiction, so I try to limit those as much as possible. I've found Advil PM to work pretty well, but ran out.

Treat the cause not the symptom. Why can’t you sleep?

I always find it difficult to sleep after I've had a hard ride. I usually just read a book and can fall asleep within an hour.

Yeah i have been having sleeping issues as well, was up until 2am last night.

I've had sleep issues for years now. I blame my college lifestyle, really. I always felt like there wasn't enough time to do everything I had to do and still have time for things I wanted to do while fitting sleep in there somewheres. Between working two part time jobs, playing ultimate, studying for academic classes and trying to find time to work on my music stuff... 24hrs a day didn't seem like enough. So I made compromises with the things I could... and consumed copius amounts of caffeine when there was no compromise to be made. After I graduated, I basically started my real job right away. I thought for sure with just one job where I wouldn't have to take my work home with me, I could get as much rest as I chose. For about 3 months I tried to do the normal sleep thing. I set up a routine starting at 9ish, bed by 10is, up by 6 (wow, I just remembered that I used be able to sleep until 6!... and I didn't have to take work home :( ) Seldom did I actually fall asleep before 01:00 or 02:00. After a while, I just gave up on trying really. If I wasn't tired I would stay up and do something productive, like watching scrubs on Tivo.

I found out later that some people don't need the standard 7 to 8... some get by just fine on 4-5. I kind of prefer this actually. I feel that I get everything out of every day that I possibly can. Its funny... people keep asking me if my kid is still keeping me up at night. I won't lie and say that he never disrupts my sleeping pattern, but for the most part I stay up late, wait for him to wake up to be fed/changed and get my few hours in before he wakes up again.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I believe that is my cue to head over to the local starbucks for a venti 'black eye' coffee.
