... rides like a POS.

okay maybe i didn't get the most efficient frame out there today, but singlespeeding a FS frame takes the advantage and fun out of a ss. i got a proflex 955 frame used and i put on parts from my ss on it, and took it out for a few rides. having rode only ht's in the past, i loved how the fs can just take whatever rough stuff comes my way. but when i took it on a gruelsome (to me, anyway) climb, i find that if i get out of the saddle and pound it, i bob like nothing else.

i think i will be upgrading to a better shock, and then putting a geared drivetrain on it.

I think a SS full suspension is pretty stupid. The whole point of singlespeeding is avoiding all that extraneous crap and not taking the easy way out. Just seems like a clash of intents there. Singlespeed rigid bikes are one thing.. but a dual suspension singlespeed just doesn't seem right.

I agree, FS single speed just dosent sound right. But dont let us stop you from doing it if it works for you.

dont worry, i'm stopping this nonsense not only because of you guys, but because i find through experience it just doesn't work. i was curious and it was worth a shot to try. i can't wait to put the drivetrain back onto the ht i had as a ss...

Kona is making a production SS full squish bike. Well, at least I've seen some pics of their prototype. The rear end pivots around the bottom bracket (similar to a Cove) so the chainlength is constant.

I know a lot of guys are starting to run SS on some DH shuttle runs. Full suspension is much appreciated, and they usually run a tall gear for those short pedaling sections. The simplicity makes it better to avoid mechanicals and helps lighten a bike!

Yeah, the Kona A, although it looks like they are not producing it for the 2004 lineup.
