Mountain Biking - I was attacked by Freeriders this morning!

I woke up around 4:45 for some gawd aweful reason and couldn't get back to sleep. I decided to buss out the XLT and hit it. I got to the trail head at 5:20 and saw a sign that said that park hours are from 6am to 11pm. I sat there unitl 5:35, but couldn't wait any longer. I hopped on the trail and started climbing. The sun wasn't up yet, the trail was barely visible. I started my descent much slower than normal because I didn't have my light charged up. (I haven't done a night ride in a while)

I finished my first descent, second climb, and started my second descent. I got back to a pretty gnarly section and SMACK!!! Freakin' freeriders! Blatent disregard for what I was doing! I was just smokin' along and there they were hanging there in their webs...trying to catch a "free ride". Eight-legged monsters. All in all after about an hour, I think I ate 10-12 of the little hitch hikers before I decided to call it quits. I got home and still had one of the nasty little losers hanging on to my head tube.

My count for this morning was 1 spider that I saw about 25 webs and 2 bee stings.

Freeriders suck, but they do have a lot of protien in them.

So I'm out this morning minding my own business and waiting for a little food to fly by. They always said you can get too much of a big thing. Then this MONSTER running insect comes barelling down the flyway. It had to be 3 time bigger then my business establishment and bigger then anything I've ever seen.

Of course, I'm waiting dead in the center for some foot and then me and my entire business are storming down the flyway. Then my neighbor from down the way and then his neighbor. It was a massacre. It took me all the way to climb back up to my territory after the ferocious dumb beast knocked me to the ground with it's clumsy appendage.

I heard about one of these things from a few of my sisters once but I never believed it. Someone has to do something about these creatures tearing up the flyway and destroying honest wholesome bug trapping businesses.

I was there for 3.5 hrs tonight though. Nobody from the Cru except Ellesworth. (that dude's strong on his ExCal)

OK I took care of em this morning! Even got one to crawl around in my helmet for a while. I think my biggest irritation from the little buggers is getting the webs off my glasses!

I like to ride early in the morning. I also ride on trails near my house that are not used very much (Seven Lakes State Park). As such I encouter webs quite frequently. I've learned to ride with my mouth shut. :)
