Jealous of all of you who are able to ride in that beautiful state on a regular basis.

For anyone interested, posted a ride report of Mt Evans I did last week.

thanks for reminding me

Mt Evans can be a difficult ride to pull off without it becoming an epic. Timing is everything. Starting at first light and watching the weather for a cherry picked day is the best strategy I've found.

shout out the day(s) of the week that work best for you. keep in mind that we'll probably be meeting at the Ranger's station around 5:00 am ...seriously.

That way, we can summit and actually enjoy some time up top taking photos from the top of the world and not hunkered down wondering how to avoid getting killed by mother nature.

I'm up for any day of the week except Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Well, I could do Monday - but only if Shannon comes along too.

Can't plan that far in advance. in fact, more than 2 days is often too much. :(

weekends ...ugh.

too many tourons driving up the road to the summit. they're not looking where they're going and the exhaust fumes are triple bad when you're seeing purple dots at 13K feet.

c'mon Dex and pwnt ...take a mid-week sick day fer petey sakes.

are you really coming out in august?
how much was the fee at the booth past echo lake?

apparently there's been a bit of tussle between cdot and the fs (forest service.) apparently you can't charge a fee to drive on a state road. so the fs has said: "They can stop anywhere except Summit Lake, Mount Goliath or the Mount Evans Summit." according to the fs these are fs amenity points that the fs can charge for.

what's teh pay to bike on through scoop? anyone know?

$3, but the lady at the booth said that's only if you intend on "loitering" at any of the parking areas. Sounds like honor system cause no one was checking for tickets that I could see last Sunday.

Really? Probably not :( I'd want to come out a few days before to do as much acclimation as I could...and doubt the wife would be cool with me spending the $$ to make the trip and the stay.

The booth was closed when I arrived, so I had to auto-pay. Price was $3. Half of the cars that went thru didn't bother to pay the fee.

There are rangers checking for the permit at the parking lot at the top. If it's your first time and you want to walk to the top of the mountain, then the $3 would be worth it. If you ride it regularly and don't bother to stop at the top, then there is no need to pay.
