And its not because I think he's cheating(though the Puerto connections are worrisome for sure), its because he didn't win the yellow jersey. It will only feel like someone won the yellow jersey if someone takes it off his back in the TT. We know this Tour would have been different if not for the doping scandals. If Rasmussen hadn't been in the Tour, which he wouldn't have been is ASO had known about him dodging the out of competition tests, what would the Tour look like right now? Contador, who went up the road primarily to battle Rasmussen, wouldn't have made the same moves. If Levi hadn't have made all those attacks on Ras yesterday to try and soften him up for Contador(who failed), then he(Levi) would have had the energy to put a lot more time into Cadel. Im gonna say I hope Contador ends up 3rd in the end. It prolly won't happen, but Cadel & Levi in the 1 & 2 spots, two guys who have suffered their asses off for this entire Tour just to try and stay on the wheel of Contador & Ras, is the only conclusion to this Tour that will make me happy. (Its all about my happiness, right?)

If this is true (and it is), why exactly doesn't Contador deserve yellow? You yourself state that they can barely hold his wheel. Clearly, he's been the stronger rider for the majority of Le Tour.

its because he didn't win the yellow jersey.
Or if he joins the NFL. Your posts today prove you are a hater. Go watch the NFL films reruns on ESPN2.

I'm cheering for him. While he didn't beat rasmussan, no one else did either so why "like" anyone. Everyone has gotten bumped. And if some other guy pulls in front, it would still be the same complaint, in the end he didn't beat the guy doping so he didn't win.
**** you might as well stop watching and go watch golf where doping is its infancy.

The point is that if Rabobank had told ASO about Ras avoiding his tests, we wouldn't be in this situation. The race would have been different, etc. Pardon me for not liking that the guy was allowed to race while cheating, I'll go watch the NFL now, apparently. Cause THATS real.
edit: He may deserve it. It just will never feel like it. Sucks for him. If Periero is 'declared' the winner of 06, do you think anyone will care other than Floyd? Its an empty win. We, at least, have a chance this year for there to be a real fight for it.

Were if not for Rasmussen, everybody would've played differently. If some random fan threw a pump in someone's spokes ala "Breaking Away", the outcome would be different. If someone hit the brakes in a turn somewhere allowing another rider to pass them, the outcome would be different.
I agree: your logic makes no sense. The world will always be filled with "what if's". Unless Contador is a doper himself, he's earned his spot as has everyone else behind him in the peleton. What applies to him in relation to Rasmussen applies to everyone else as well.
Go watch golf - or curling. Maybe that "sport" will be next for the pro dopers.

So, if your boss wins the lottery and retires, your logic is that since you were number two in the team you do not deserve to be promoted?

Any bets that Contador will be crowned Tour winner before we hear anything about Landis? Or will they drop that bombshell while the riders are circling the Champs E'lysee?(sp).
Regarding the paycheck, the TdF winner does not keep the winnings; he gives it to his teammates. He gets the endorsements and the women. Maybe Perreiro will keep the check if he does get it since he won't be getting any endorsements and probably not as many women.

That's pretty funny stuff. You are a confused soul stuck in a world of what ifs. So the person who takes it from Contador is suddenly clear of the 'what if' scenario? Hilarious.....

At some point we all have to trust the testing system. I know the Tour using LNDD doesn't help that trust (okay they changed labs this year...hmmm), but cycling is in uncharted territory in trying to get rid of cheaters. All of the positives and suspensions for not following testing protocol are proof positive that the sport is trying it's best to eliminate cheating. I disagree, for the most part, about the ability of people to cheat versus testing protocol. IMHO, the testing procedures are adequate. There are probably more ways to get around the system, but who can afford it? Cycling teams budgets pale in comparison to pro Soccer, football, and baseball teams. Astana has one of the largest budgets in cycling, yet they get caught with the red flag inducing homologous blood transfusion (which is about 10 years behind the times)?
No other sport is spending the kinds of money and efforts to eliminate cheaters like cycling is. At some point most of you folks are going to have to give up your cynicism or just go away.

Were you watching the same tour I am watching? they both sucked wheel the whole tour, Cadel didn't attack once, Levi only in the last day in the Pyrenees had to attack for his Team. They were on the defense hiding behind everybody...

Looked like to me Levi had the power to run away and leave AC anytime on the last climb. But he didn't because he was being a good team member.
