Okay, so I agreed to promote this ride, so here goes. A lot of you (us, whatever) are always looking for a good excuse/reason to ride. Here's one nobody can argue with All the money raised goes to environmental causes. Hey, we all prefer clean rivers and bike trails, right? So check it out. The www.rollingriverride.org is a cool cycling fundraising experience near Yorkville, Il, much on what used to be the Silver Springs Ride (55 miles SW of Chicago). The August 25, 2007 ride offers 15, 25, 45, 62, and 100 mile options on clearly marked, rural, light traffic roads with scenic vistas, rolling hills, river crossings, and wildlife.
In addition to the usual sag support, first aid, FIVE REST STOPS with food and energy drinks, and bike repair, there are numerous other activities for any non-riders in the family who want to attend.
Optional canoeing and kayaking on the Fox River is available from Kayak
Chicago and Freeman’s Sports.
The 400 acre site with onsite tent camping Friday or Saturday at Hoover Outdoor Education Center Forest Preserve means you can avoid an early morning drive, or a long drive home Sat.night.
A POST-RIDE PARTY includes live music, an all-organic cookout, massage, enviro-fest, and entertainment, and other family-friendly activities.
