While I cannot vouch for the sanity of absolutely everyone who posts in PnR, I'd say most who post there are far too lazy to do such a thing. It takes motivation to volunteer and go to protests, etcetera, but it takes almost no energy to write an obnoxious post. :)

As for the story, I think tenacity like this should be commended in the civilian world, like automatically conscripting these nutjobs in some sort of "suicide squad" for the military. R. Lee Ermey would love these guys.
