On Tuesday my son (age 23) and I (age 48) rode 100 miles in one day for the first time!!! It was slow, but we did it. It took 13 hrs 45 minutes including stops, but at least now I can say I've finally done it. It was tough to do for me (my son could have finished much faster), but it feels great to know I did it.

Go soak your feet and knees in a hot bath!

Yes, we live in Texas.
No, unfortunately we don't have pictures. The ride was Waco to Corsicana and back, so it was one hill after another most of the way. Kinda like a self-powered roller coaster.
On the day after (Wednesday), my legs felt tight, but not sore. My wife and I went to Six Flags that day and I walked around a little bit. My back did get a muscle spasm, but I'm not sure whether or not it was related to the bike ride. On the whole, I think I'm finally ready for the "big ride" -- 180 miles in 2 days, rest a few days, then back home.
That is great! Although, in Texas I thought a Century was 101 miles, since everything was bigger!
Too funny you spent 13 hours going on roller coaster hills and the next day you went on a roller coaster...

Well, maybe it was...
Following our rest stop at the 70 mile point, I got on my bike, started down the road, and after I had rode for a short distance I realized my cyclocomputer wasn't registering. I pushed down to re-seat it, and it started working again.
And BTW, here's a funny story: When we arrived in Bellmead around 10pm someone was shooting off bottle rockets. Since it wasn't the 4th of July or New Year's Eve, we figured they must be celebrating our accomplishment! Of course, we don't live in Bellmead, and we don't know anyone who does, but that's doesn't make us appreciate the accolades any less!

We were at 6 flags this past sunday. The Titan is one awsome coaster, along with all the other rides. My ex lives in Burleson, so sometimes I take the kids or pick them up and we do 6 flags.. Congrats again on the century.

Wow, cool! 48? Goes to show it's never too late! And just think of how many young pups you've outdone!:D
Congrats on your first century! I'm working toward the same goal in another two months.

For everything I've done while on Bike Forums. That includes the 1000 mile mark and the metric century. But who's counting? :-)
