So i'm catching up on the tour after sleeping in a little today. I just heard Pil say that David Millar, Axel Mercx, and Big George are signing with a new American team going over the pond next year. Which team is it? Are they replacing Disco as the "American" team, or is Disco going to still have an American sponser?

It's "another American" team, not new.
Yep, Slipstream is the ardently anti-doping team (and they're sponsored by Chipotle! yum).

Mmmmmmm, Chipotle. Here in Chicago there's one Chipotle that does a bike day. If you have a helmet and a bike lock key they give you a free burrito. So yummy.

Slipstream is THE American team, if you ask me. :)

- George is possibly moving to T-Mobile

No way; and FYI: Slipstream's vying for a wildcard in next year's Tour...Vaughters promising that the argyle will be BOLDER and BADDER. Kick A**

So how does the wild card process work? Does the tour decide which team enters, or is based on performance like the MLB wild card?

Sweet! I'm on the HP Cycling Team! :D (it's a riding club, there's -zero- chance they'd even let my old/slow/fat butt ferry bottles to the boys!)

Purely at the discretion of the Race Organizers...it's their race, afterall.

It's weirdly retro cool. Besides, your grandfater could borrow that kit for his golf outings.

I'd love to see Slipstream in the Tour next year. We have to support both clean cycling and American cycling.

Definitely much better than the gawdy Disco jerseys...especially with the green included (respect what the Green represents, but it's still makes a god awful jersey!).

I think their argyle jerseys and funny colors rock. I'd wear one of those team kits.

I don't know why Hewlett-Packard would do it, but Larry Ellison (Oracle) lost his figurative shirt on the Americas Cup, so maybe he is looking for something a bit cheaper. :p

An Oracle team would be cool. The Oracle logo is itself well designed, and the kits I am sure would look really cool. Only problem: more Black and Red jerseys. We have enough already.
The white jerseys of FdJ are still in my opinion the best professional jerseys since the 1960's. Just a classic, classic look.

HP takes pride in monitoring their employees through bugging, and other invasive techniques. Maybe they would be good at monitoring their riders' compliance...

They guys on Vs. were talking about Slipstream's committment to anti-doping saying that they allocate approximately 10% of the operating budget specifically for the purpose of ensuring that all their riders are clean. If they maintain a high profile in that regard and have some good showings in various stage races they could be next years Barloworld.
Hell, with all the talent that's gonna be out there looking for a ride, they could be next year's Discovery!
