It's not your fault I'm watching the TdF on tape and am 3 days behind. Not your fault at all
But there are too many posts here discussing recent events. Some I know about, some I don't and some I didn't until someone blurted something out about Rassmussen right in the subject line.
Guess I won't be around for a week or so. I can't let y'all ruin the surprises for me.

Be good while I'm gone

I was the same way - behind 3 days. After a couple of marathon nights in front of the TiVo, I finally caught up. But it sure was a bummer to watch a stage knowing that a couple of the prominent guys wouldn't be there in a day or two.

My feeling is no news about the tour should ever be in the subject line. I won't post any specific information within a thread until the next day and then only in a thread identifiable as being about the tour. If you are more than a day behind in viewing you should avoid reading threads about the tour. But these are unusual circumstances where the news isn't just about the stage results, so you should probably avoid the forums if you don't want to see anything about the news surrounding the race.

mea culpa....sorry guys and gals, I won't do it again. :o

To be real though you would probably have to hide under a rock to avoid the news about the recent tour events, my recent post notwithstanding.

I think if someone is going to not watch an event for 3 days, they need to not hang out where people are likely to talk about the event...

It isn't up to the rest of the world to avoid the issue for days because someone else hasn't watched their videos yet...

Is it really realistic to avoid discussing our passions until everyone has had a chance to watch their tapes, they should watch them then come catch up on the forums.

I think it was in the road forum someone got all upset because some title mentioned Rasmussen being fired by his team... The previous night's OLN coverage had a crawler announcing the firing before they even showed him winning the previous stage... It was news, not a spoiler.

If I have recorded an event, and don't want to hear the results, the last place I am going to hang out is where people have a passion for the event I taped... If I do, I am going to expect to hear the results in detail.

I had someone at work tell me at 3pm who had won the days stage. This ruins my evening TV as I watch a recording of the days racing late at night. Hold on= 3pm and the race is still on- He had got a couple of names off the TDF site and just decided to P me off for the afternoon. Think I have a job for him on Monday and as it will STILL BE raining in the afternoon- I'll see how his waterproof works after 3 hours of physical work in the yard. If the waterproof works- He'll still be soaked to the skin from the sweat he is going to make. If the waterproof leaks- Hard luck.

Guess I'm weird. I follow the tour blogs online, go home, and enjoy it just as much as ever. I do think people who go to a cycling forum hoping not to learn anything about the TDF. do so at their own peril.

Don't no one tell me the results of the 2000 Olympics. I want to savor that one.

I think you might be getting a little carried away with yourself, here.
I said it was entirely my fault, now, didn't I? Go back and read my OP, please.
I would only add that, given the general high level of consideration shown as a matter of course in this forum, I'd have expected a spoiler alert in the subject a la cross chain's thread elsewhere.

I guess I did get a little carried away... But I was having a little fun too.

I am one of those people who enjoy watching the race just as much even knowing who is going to win. In fact, I heard the results of the last TT on NPR on the way home before I watched it, and enjoyed it as much as I would have without the spoiler.

Knowing who wins to me is far less important than the excitement of seeing it happen. Fortunately the NPR report didn't give any details concerniong gaps, so there was some suspense.

I hope you enjoyed the race (if you have seen it by now). :)

If not, I can't wait until you find out who won, so we can talk about it! ;)
