General Cycling Discussion - Things you wanted to know about the Siouxland cyclists but were afraid to ask.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here is a very flattering article about my local bike club. It also includes the local running club too. Check it out!

Do you really think anyone on here besides you and me acutally knows where or what is referred to when you say "Sioux Land"?:D Just Kidding.
Acutally, it was a good read and I am really looking forward to returning to the midwest in a couple years when I retire from military service and hope to join up with a similar group or club. Until then I am stuck riding in this awful place called San Diego. Seriously I will really miss the awesome weather and great riding areas I currently have available. BTW, I grew up in south east South Dakota not too far from Iowa.

Dorf, I'm just glad you spelled Sioux correctly. I think you know how people can slaughter the spelling of it. It baffles the heck out of me that such a simple word is often mispelled. I'm not talking about spelling it Soo either, which is one of the popular nickname spelling's for the word.
Which part of S.E. South Dakota did you grow up in, Elk Point, Jefferson, McCook Lake, or North Sioux City? Or were you as far north as Vermillion? When you return home will you be coming back to Siouxland?

You're kidding right? I hope so. But I guess I'll answer you anyway. It is pronounced "sue" as in law suit, or better yet soo. In fact the old river boat casino was called the Sioux City Soo.

N_C,
I grew up in the small town of Platte, South Dakota which is pretty close to the river and I promptly departed upon completion of high school. When I retire fromt the military I will try to get a job in Loveland/Ft Collins, Colorado area. I may however give some thought to Rapid City or Sioux Falls, SD.
